Their latest, If Travel is Asked of Me , is quite intoxicating and oddly emotional with it's mostly slow-to-burn mentality. Experimental slash psychedelic pop outfit Golden Birthday recently released a brand new record titled, Blue Island . One of the album's track, "Humans Bleed," recently got a very creative visual treatment courtesy of local video artist Charles E. Robert III. The clip features a painted up couple embracing and frolicking (with plastic vampire teeth!) within a red and blue hued, kaleidoscope-like hazy. It's definitely trippy, but in a good way that fits the track's mellow guitars and poppy synths. Check it out for yourself below:

Chicago's Golden Birthday opens its Blue Island LP with a burst of lover's rock that aims for a deeper connection than the surface attraction. The astral sentiment is so brilliant, it's hard to believe it's not been written before: same aura. Throughout Illusions , the latest from Chicago's Golden Birthday, the band stretch and tweak exotic art-pop and electronica to their tension-filled breaking point. The simmering cut, "Beyond It," is richly layered with sharp but bouncy melodies that give the tune a peculiar retro feel. Last time we wrote about Golden Birthday 's forthcoming full-length Blue Island , it was April 2011, and we optimistically predicted a release that following summer. Now while that obviously has not happened, the latest album cut "Start Swimming" is another reminder that the second proper record by one of Chicago's prime synth exponents is surely something worth waiting for just a little longer. When the time has come, Blue Island will be dropped by Rainbow Body Records .

The organizers of AHHH!!! Pilsen Music Festival have created a Kickstarter to raise $2,000 to fund operation costs for the 2011 edition of the lower West side neighborhood fest. The funds raised from AHHH!!!’s Kickstarter will go toward compensation for both performers and security at the event as well as stage and sound equipment.
