![[LP] Penguin Prison – PENGUIN PRISON (w/ every Penguin Prison track TBE has ever posted)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3957882_lg.jpg)
i got a car that i call jenny, i take her out when there's too much noise in my head ♫ Penguin Prison - A Funny Thing [from 2009 ] ♫ Penguin Prison - The Worse It Gets [from 2010 ] The October 18th release of Penguin Prison's self-titled debut is interesting for a couple reasons. The first thing is that I didn't know it came out until 6 weeks late. And I think the second thing is directly tied to the 1st. Penguin Prison has been around so [...]
Golden Silvers - True Romance (by daniel brereton ) Another one by director Daniel Brereton, this time a faux-80's electropop number by Golden Silvers. Catchy!

Previous ETC entrants include Stornoway , Scouting For Girls , We Have Band , Golden Silvers , the Subways and last year's winners Ellen and the Escapades . [...]
If you're in a relatively new band and want to play what is probably the UK's (if not the world's) biggest festival, head over to the Glastonbury website now, by clicking the banner above. This blog is part of the blogger judging panel who will be compiling a long list from which Michael and Emily Eavis, amongst others, will choose the finalists for the live finals April. You could join a list of other successful entrants including Stornoway , We Have Band and one of my personal favourites, Golden Silvers. So what are you waiting for? It's [...]

Penguin Prison has put his spin on the remix of Golden Silvers' True Romance . See more of them in this video that has the feel of a foreign film, the exuberant, Arrows of Eros . All that's missing is Sally Hawkins and maybe ( the still alive ) Bob Hoskins. ( via ) Golden Silvers: True Romance (Penguin Prison remix).mp3 [...]
Photo by Tim Easton At long last the time has come, friends. Ellie Goulding finally hits gotham city, playing her debut NYC show at Hiro Ballroom TONIGHT. Neon Gold is thrilled to be putting on the... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

When I found out the Young & Lost Club girls, namely Nadia Dahlawi and Sara Jade, were a little younger than myself it really put how much they have done and how influential they are in the London music scene into some perspective for me. And now, celebrating their 50th single and 5 years as a label, they are releasing a double-disc compilation of 35 of their favourites. Their story is one of musical fairytale of sneaking out of boarding school to catch gigs around London, before starting a beautifully budget fanzine called Pyrrha,' [...]

In so many more ways than can be classified, NYC"s own Penguin Prison , aka Chris Glover, legitimately has come through with all the correct responses. Let's see, he's generated a number of solo cuts that fulfill every wanting need for smart and sophisticated pop tunes. He's also remixed the hell out of tracks that already have a loving home in nearly every blogger and music lovers' heart. Additionally, he's literally got all the right [...]

It should be quite clear to anyone who has been following my mixtapes over the last year that I suffer dearly from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). While I've tried many a remedy, the only medication that seems to work is a carefully constructed playlist which bridges the transition from one season to the next. So what you'll find in this installment of my seasonal mixtape series is a trip through the denial of the season's change to a few songs that sound like the early Winter months, some that echo the deepest doldrums of January, and a few sweet tunes [...]
We're a bit late on the ol' Penguin Prison train it seems. The NYC singer/songwriter/artist has been burning up the web for a few months now it seems, and his new single "The Worse It Gets", was released yesterday. Ignoring the slightly dodgy lyrics (about his car "Jenny" that "takes him anywhere"), it's a funk-tastic stroll through 70's disco, 80's synths, 90's guilty pleasures and 00's coolness. The track was co-written by the gang of Holy Ghost!, so naturally, it's a pretty amazing creation. Whilst you're enjoying the track below, also enjoy two remixes of two of [...]

Man, it's been over a week and I haven't even had the chance to thank everyone for coming along to our warehouse party! I'M SORRY GUYS - THANKS FOR MAKING IT SUCH A SPECIAL NIGHT!!! Work has been a joke this last week - I had done 40 hours by the afternoon on Wednesday... ANYWAY - what an amazing night it was! Apologies to those who couldn't get in, we were 40 over capacity by 12.30 - meaning that even those who had bought tickets were getting turned away (if you would like a refund, please email me [...]

Whilst London label Young & Lost Club may not spring to mind as energetically and instantly as the likes of Domino and XL when reeling off illustrious lists of British indie labels, in all likelihood one of your preferred peddlers of light-hearted indie, past or present, will have humbly begun scuffing up their bumblebee barnets and shuffling awkwardly to rather magnificent indie pop whilst housed within the Club's fuzzy embrace. Renowned for releasing initial outings from the likes of Golden Silvers , Bombay Bicycle Club , Semifinalists and Everything Everything amongst other [...]

Though originally tempted to join the club of "best-music-of-20093 blog writers, I decided, given the fact this post is arriving already two weeks into '10, to instead take the opportunity to give a shout-out to some of my favorite artist discoveries of the year. These are musicians who have graced many-a mix CD of mine and gotten me through a number of stressful deadline-meeting sessions. Here are 10(ish) of my new-ish-found favorites to given a listen to in '10. If you like what you hear of these musicians, Google them, go to their show, buy their tunes. And [...]

This year I though I should at least describe some of the tracks of the year, but without falling into just using amazing, awesome, outstanding etc. Brother Sport by Animal Collective is the greatest song ever. I say this with all sincerity. I'm wrestling with myself to make a songs of the decade list, and this would very likely be number one. After their album collected virtual dust on my hard drive, it came up on shuffle and made me immediately listen to the rest of Animal Collective's eighth [...]

London indie outfit, Golden Silvers , have had a very charmed and auspicious beginning; winning the Glastonbury New Talent Award in 2008, releasing debut album True Romance on XL to critical acclaim, coming to the US as a CMJ buzz band, and closing out last year with a place on the shortlist for The Guardian's 2009 First Album Award. The band quickly became a TLC favorite with their unprecedented cohesion of doo-wop, psychedelia, glam and electro. We chatted briefly with lead singer/songwriter Gwilym Gold after their slot at Blue Flowers' CMJ showcase at [...]
