If last month's mix showed my inspiration from Wyndham's funky February mix , then this one is my homage to Freed's mix last summer . I'm confident that many will make summer mixes, but this one is mine. Others may focus on what's new, but this focuses on what's awesome. And that's what makes it so cool. If you know our friends over at Hardly Art , they've been dabbling in the softer side of indie rock for the last several releases (not that we mind at all #justsaying). But, when you hear this booming track, you'll realize that the label has a new force to be reckoned with in K-Holes . Their new record, Dismania, should be out on the label on May 1st, and there's something sonically sinister lurking. It's got the reckless abandon you can recall from early [...]

It's been a busy few years for XRay Eyeballs , the project of several members of Golden Triangle ; they released a full-length, a 73, and now they're back with a new album titled Splendor Squalor . Their new effort will come out on February 28th via Kanine Records , and you know we'll be supporting this group. If you're looking to make a musical connection, think of The Kills with a mid-70s Max's Kansas City vibe to it; [...]

We premiered the haze-pop deliciousness of " Egyptian Magician " from Xray Eyeballs not too long ago, and today the band premiered the new video for the track over at Consquence Of Sound . Their debut LP, Not Nothing , was released on April 19th through Kanine Records. MP3 : Xray Eyeballs - Egyptian Magician Hear some other songs and watch some videos at the band's blogspot .

San Franciscan-cum-Brooklynite O.J. San Felipe has two bands: Golden Triangle and Xray Eyeballs . Both share a fondness for West coast surf vibes and shoe-scuffing dance parties. But while the former tilts the throttle fully forward, Xray Eyeballs drifts hazily towards a darker party thrown deeper in the back of the garage. Take the new clip for their track “Egyptian Magician” - both song and video recall a smoked-out basement or college dorm. Dim, irregular lighting accents the careless nature of sporadic dancing, and unpretentious good-times abound. The video, directed by Amanda Finn, feels and [...]

A few months back we brought you news of Xray Eyeballs , a project featuring OJ from Golden Triangle , but now there's a new track out there, thanks to MOKB , just before the band's release of their record Not Nothing , which will hit stores net week via Kanine Records . Listening to this track, I definitely am digging the way it trudges along, slowly building towards the eventual musical release. It's a less immediate track than [...]

I spotted Xray Eyeballs a few months back and immediately slapped a "like" down for them on Facebook. Now they have a new album due for release, as well as a sweet NSFW video for new track "Crystal". Read More >>

Xray Eyeballs is the brainchild of Golden Triangle -r O.J. San Felipe a/k/a Po'Jay. The band plays a sometimes frantic blend of Nuggets -y rawk and moody new wave. Their debut album Not Nothing will be released on April 19th, 2011 via Kanine Records . But before that comes out, the band has an upcoming 7” 3 song EP on Hozac which come out on March 1st. Listen. Everyone seems to have their favorite style of punk or new wave or garage or whatever, but Brooklyn's Xray Eyeballs seem to have all of that in mind when crafting their songs, that and a touch of down-trodden temperament. The songs could easily go double time on your turn table and sound like run of the mill garage punk, but in this time, they just sound like your party ran out of beer, and you lost all your money gambling on beer pong. Luckily, you can add this to the late night soundtrack of [...]

This track by Golden Triangle came out back in April of this year and I finally came across it in my iTunes. Every now and then I scroll through my music list and “drop the needle” somewhere… kind of like flipping through the dictionary and blindly picking a word to learn. Yes, I actually do that. My latest word is “nekton” (free-swimming aquatic animals essentially independent of wave and current action). I lead a thrilling life. Anyhow, my mouse pointer stopped on “Cold Bones” by Brooklyn’s Golden Triangle, and boy oh [...]

Southeast Texas singer and musician Dave Shaw is recuperating after a heart transplant at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. Shaw is in good condition in a post-surgical intensive care unit. Shaw, lead singer for the Beaumont-based band Eazy, received his new heart at Methodist on Wednesday. He says he is in good spirits and he appreciates the support he has received from music fans in Golden Triangle area. Since the 1970s, Eazy has played to packed houses throughout Southeast Texas and Louisiana. Their music is a gumbo blend of rock and roll, R&B [...]

album art by purpleplaid Hello! Here is my first mixtape for our stellar mixtape week here at TSURURADIO! The first mix...? Yup that's right, I've made three mixtapes each with their own distinct vibe. It's been ages since I've made a proper mixtape (well other than just the throwing of random songs onto a CD so I'll have driving music). I was going through all the stuff I wanted to put in and my list was enormous. Even after I did some cutting I was still left with a chunk of songs that just would [...]
