Taking place on 5-7 November 2010 at Pontins Holiday Park, Camber Sands, Sussex , this will be the party of the year for all live music fans. photo by Phil Bourne They've featured twice already on this blog, but finally, after a few months of patient waiting here is Goldhawks ' epic single Where In The World . Posted a month or two ago in demo form, i've been championing this Shepherds Bush based band ever since catching a terrific show of theirs at The Borderline in February. Anthemic. Ambitious. Epic. Hook-laden. Panoramic. Cinematic. Enjoy this over the bank holiday weekend. Buy it here . More from Phil Bourne here . [...]

Looking at pictures of future cities is always a good time, and when you've got electronic soundtrack its even better. These are some tracks that have landed in my inbox, and while they don't have as heavy of a beat as some of the stuff I've been listening to lately they're still pretty good. I've written about Dr. Hollywood before , and I think they'll probably have some great stuff coming up. This week marks the first time I've heard of Belfast Synth pop duo Uber Glitterati , and I think they'll stay on [...]

HMV Next Big Thing, The Borderline, 9th Feb Towards the end of each year most industry folk will, if pushed, compile a list of 10 or so acts they feel will rise above the quagmire of musical hopefuls to become household names. Overlooking the fact that they are a few months behind the pack, music retailer HMV have gone one better, or rather 70 better. Over 10 nights and six different venues HMV The Next Big Thing festival features 80 ‘hand-picked’ bands, each tipped to go onto to great things. What’s more, if the [...]

It’s no small task writing big songs. Songs that spill out of headphones and speakers, desperate to be given an airing in the more cavernous venues the country has to offer. Named after the West London street they were born and raised on, Goldhawks appear to have risen to the challenge. Formed by frontman and songwriter Bobby Cook, the band signed to Mercury Records and release their debut single Where In The World in March. Atmospheric, anthemic and drenched in reverb, it’s a wonderfully exciting cocktail, mixing the best parts of U2 , [...]

More information on bands that debuted this week on the FUTURE SOUNDS radio show on WOXY .... WORLD'S GREATEST GHOSTS MYSPACE HOMETOWN: Portland, OR TRACK: Phantastes Thanks to the 3 Imaginary Girls folks for tipping us [...]

Even though they're not officially in this week's mix, I highly recommend you go download those two tracks from Death On Two Wheels (previous post), and just DIY add them to the mixtape. It would make it a fuller, better rounded mix for certain. Otherwise, enjoy Tracklisting: Cavalier Rose - Painted Bird Cold War Kids - Audience Dawn Landes - [...]

Britain's Goldhawks come pounding straight into this one and never relent. I love the bounce of the rhythm and the verse/chorus dynamics (guitars dropping out and then returning something fierce), all of which merely support an insanely catchy rock melody. This song is blistering and ambitious, which I love. No attempt to undersell or back away from what is truly a huge tune. I have no idea who produced this, but it sounds incredible. Enjoy. [...]

What follows is four pages of my personal picks for artists I'm looking forward to hearing much more of in 2010. Featured artists include RUBIK, Baby Monster, I Am the Cosmos, Two Door Cinema Club, May 68, Sam Amidon, O Emperor, Manus Goan, Jay Electronica, MNDR, Surfer Blood, Lonelady, a host of Box Social-related artists and more. Enjoy. 1. Sleigh Bells Practically unheard of before CMJ in October last year, Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss' punky take on lo-fi dance-rock made an impression with many at [...]

My interest in Goldhawks was sparked by Tim’s recommendation back here , and so when I heard they would be visiting Norwich last Sunday, I made sure I was available. After a weekend spent in the capital, riding the tube and continuously passing the road that gave the boys their name, it really seemed a natural progression to end my Sunday in the confines of one of Norwich’s most out of the way venues for a band recommended by my editor and who sound just a bit too good to be true on their MySpace. I just [...]
Goldhawks , from West London, taking their name from the Road around which they grew up, have transitioned from a three piece, to five piece band with great effect. Bobby Cook (vocals), Jack (guitar), Nick (keyboards), Colin (bass) and Graham (drums). With a new single out on 6th December 2009 Running Away and an extensive tour across the UK, which culminates in their debut at the Xfm Winter Wonderland show in Brixton on 16th December ( full line up ), [...]

If you took a look inside my head you’d probably see things spinning faster than ever before. Unfortunately this state doesn’t imply faster (or better) brain activity, but rather that I’m in some kind of state of confusion. Not exactly sure why, but today I find it incredibly difficult to think straight for more than just a few seconds. So today’s blogpost has been in the making, written and deleted a number of times! Wish I could blame my mailbox for my current state, as it’s once again jammed. Wouldn’t it be brilliant if the mails somehow filtered [...]

Making stadium rock in the vein of U2, Goldhawks are an obscure 5-piece from London. Based on their first (and currently only) single, ‘Where In The World’, they should be big. The single certainly sounds big and you can hear it below: Goldhawks - Where in the World There’s no news of an album yet but you can hear another track, ‘1996’ on their myspace. Read Here
