Love Police Touring announce an extensive national tour throughout June/July for UK’s, Ben Ottewell. Familiar to a faithful following as the most recognisable voice in Mercury Prize-winning Southport five-piece Gomez, Ottewell released his first solo album, Shapes & Shadows, via ATO/Shock Records in 2011. While Gomez is a three-singer band, Ottewell's powerful tenor has graced many fan favourites, from early songs like ‘Get Miles’ and ‘Revolutionary Kind’ to the more recent singles ‘How We Operate’ and ‘See The World.’ In one early profile, Rolling Stone declared, "Gomez's [...]

On the walk over to the Mod Club, I had told Paul I was skeptical of the crowd size for the Gomez show on Monday. I had estimated it would be about half full. After all, this is a band that had ascended to the top well over a decade ago. Their Mercury Prize winning debut album Bring It On had put them at the top of music conversations everywhere at that time. I still remember reading that Zoe Ball (famous BBC1 personality back then) had been moved to tears upon hearing the track [...]

Steve Double Whenever an old/classic album is reissued these days - which is pretty much every day - it's inevitably advertised as having been remastered, and it's assumed that that's a good thing. And not unreasonably - when a lot of these albums were originally released on compact disc, they were poorly converted from analog to digital and could generally sound thin/quiet/uninspiring. But remastering is no guarantee of improvement - at best, things will sound incredibly better (the 20th anniversary redo of The Stone Roses' debut by original producer John Leckie is a revelation), [...]
Considering the wide range of your output (illustration, photography, video), how would you best describe your practice? I cannot focus on any medium in particular because I love every one of them individually. Each skill has its own essence. The thing I like the most is working with them separately and then bringing them together, [...]

I can't believe I'll be in New Orleans this weekend . I kept saying this to myself again and again in the days leading up to my departure from Chicago. This wasn't exactly said in excitement, either - no, in fact, you could say it was laced with anxiety and stress. I'd be traveling alone to a city I'd never been to and what's worse, I was sick with a diet version of the flu, and couldn't stop sucking down vitamin D capsules and crackling open Sudafed packets. So, on Wednesday night, I paced around my apartment, muttering things to [...]

I Gomez tornano in Italia, domani a Bologna e sabato a Milano, per presentare il nuovo album Whatever's on your mind . I always thought it was a bunch of crap whenever I hear people talk about not being able to be fans or emphatic about Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I like both, but I've noticed with my older age, I've started leaning more towards the Stones. Gomez takes a brilliant stab at "Jumpin' Jack Flash," with rapid tempo changes as their twist on the classic Stones track. Download the track below and catch them on a short SE tour of the US at the dates below. The lads are also offering their show from [...]

The members of Gomez have been playing together for just over 15 years, but the lineup hasn't changed since the band's official formation in 1997. It’s quite a feat considering that two of the members are currently living in the U.S. while three are in England. The band's most recent album, Whatever's on Your Mind , was released last summer and was a solid addition to the band's repertoire. Gomez kicked off their Quinceañera tour, celebrating their 15 years together last month; to make it special, Gomez is letting fans vote for their five favorite songs from the band [...]

“What’s wrong Chazzy Black, you look sad?” “I don’t know Linux, I know we have all this great music that came out in 2011 (Spinning Platters Top Ten Albums of 2011), but I’m just not happy. I like dreamy guitars, sad depressing themes, and booty shaking grooves and all that, but I’m just not sure [...]
