Photos by: me Hey music fans! AdventurerNeil checking in here. Don't have a ton of time or energy right now, but I wanted to share a mixtape that a friend from work gave me a little bit ago. It's pretty darn good, and I'd promised him I'd make it appear on the old 'RU. Finding time and hosting has been a bit of a challenge, but I think I got this... (if not, I'll mess around with it some more tomorrow). So without any ado, really... The TSURURADIO Community Presents... Logan's "The First Mix [...]

![[Listen] – #MusicMonday – 20 Songs Of The Week – April 12th](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2472624_lg.jpg)
If you're unaware of what Music Monday is, it's a Twitter recommendation system where users of Twitter share their favourite music, artists, genres, etc in order to not only find new music themselves but help others find new music too. Using the hashtag (#) followed by "MusicMonday" you can easily find new music posted by the thousands of people making recommendations each week. Every #MusicMonday I upload a playlist of 20 songs that I've been listening to (new and old) over the [...]
Combining meaty riffs, a trio of rotating lead singers, quirky lyrics, and Southport, England's Gomez has been churning out a steady collection of hearty rock songs since their formation in 1996. Conventional musical wisdom categorizes the British quintet – vocalist/guitarist Ian Ball, bassist Paul Blackburn, vocalist/keyboardist Tom Gray, drummer Olly Peacock, and guitarist/vocalist Ben Ottewell – as purveyors of indie rock, but their music frequently displays a bluesy tendency (perhaps most notably on the murky "Get Miles" from their debut album). In the decade since releasing their Mercury Prize-winning debut Bring It On , they've [...]

One Eskimo , a four piece indie rock group from London, England consisting of Kristian Leontiou (vocals), Adam Falkner (drums), Pete Rinaldi (guitar), Jamie Sefton (bass and horns) is a freewheeling act with experimental roots and a desire to bring a soulful side to acoustic instrumentation. With songs like Kandi and Chocolate evincing a spirit born of boundless imagination and a long-standing collaborative relationship. One Eskimo is building a reputation for crafting classic, inward-looking Pop songs highlighted with psychedelic guitars, pastoral sound effects and intricate rhythms. On tunes from their debut, however, One [...]

With its high, art-deco ceilings, crystal chandeliers and plush, red velvet seats, the Orpheum Theatre was as beautiful as I expected it to be and a perfect venue for British indie five-piece, Gomez . Their musical journey started way back in 1998 in England when their first album, Bring It On , won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize and immediately put them on every record label's radar. Since those early days, Gomez have recorded six albums, toured pretty much every continent, had songs featured on Grey's Anatomy and House and signed with Dave Matthews [...]

Who do we have here? Hard to believe these boys have been around for over a decade. The band played their first gig together in late 1996 in Leeds without a formal name. The band left a sign out for a friend of theirs whose surname was Gomez to indicate that it was the site of their first gig. People saw the sign and assumed that the band's name was Gomez - the name stuck. The band started recording four-track demos in a garage in Southport soon after. A bidding war erupted when they sent the [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive , Television Gomez will hit the road later this week for a month-long trek, but fans may want to be a little kind to drummer Olly Peacock if he seems distracted on Tuesday nights. He might be thinking of what's happening to Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley on the final season of ' Lost .' "I've not really gone through this before," he tells Spinner of trying to tour and watch the beloved sci-fi show. [...]

London's One EskimO comes to Madison Friday, on tour with paisanos Gomez and supporting their own debut album, All Balloons . Their and icy music showcases vocalist Kristian Leontiou's lyrics and vocals. Leontiou channels Michael Stipe as much as Dave Matthews (don't hold it against him), Damien Rice and Gomez's Ben Ottewell-- which is to say, his vocals are quite nice. But perhaps more than that, it's the creativity surrounding the band. First, there is no shortage of writing in this band's resumé-- first clue is their blog . But [...]
Buddy is from LA they are doing a few gigs (above) in the Pacific NW with Gomez. Check out this latest video from their song "Say A Lot" and check their myspace for more on the band. [myspace] Buddy
Last week in our CPR edition of Friday Mix Tape , Ryan via my recommendation dropped a tune from the Mumford & Sons - whom I described as "the UK's answer to the Avett Brothers". I thought I'd use today's edition of Pullin' 'Tubes to more formally introduce you to the music of this four-piece act who have only been around for a handful of years. The London-based act plays a mix of traditional English inspired folk music, channeled through the high and lonesome sound of American bluegrass with influences from the Beard [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Canada Today marks the first day of the 2010 Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver, B.C. Over the next 60 days more than 500 artists from around the world will perform throughout Metro Vancouver and Whistler as part of the massive cultural event. Billed as a 'celebration of the contemporary imagination,' the ambitious showcase will feature a variety of music, dance, theatre, visual arts, film and digital media experiences. Kicking off the music component of the series tonight [...]
Taken literally, Hamoa Beach is a secluded area on the island of Maui in Hawaii, but that's not what this song's about. Ian Ball, lead singer of Gomez, has said that this song is about divorce, and I certainly won't disagree with that assessment since it's their song. But, for me, before I knew what [...]

Narrowing my list down to just ten was quite a task this year. But it was a problem I am grateful to have. With a year so heavily saturated with good new music, it has made it extremely difficult but tons of fun to come up with a list of my favorite albums of year, which I am happy to present to you today. 10. Regina Spektor - Far She can be a little kitschy but she is so [...]
We've seen an unprecedented year of new music in 2009. There's been enough diversity to satisfy practically anyone's music tastes. We definitely had a surge in surfer sound revivals, dreamy bedroom pop, lo-fi garage rock, and psychedelic electronica, but we also heard just about everything in between. It'll be interesting to see what trends emerge next year. Before we leave 2009 for good, we wanted to recap of our top rated album releases [...]

As we plunge deeper in the winter months, there's nothing like getting out and seeing some funk music to get your ass shaking to keep that seasonal depression at a minimum. For those of you on the West Coast you're in luck as two great New Orleans-based acts Dumpstaphunk and the Rebirth Brass Band will team up for an eight-date run up the coast that will include a two-night stand at The Independent in San Francisco. If you're not into a night of New Orleans funk, than maybe [...]
