You know how every DJ needs to have a couple of personal, secret gems that they keep to themselves? If you're playing music for a crowd, you need to be able to pull out that unpredictable, undeniable smash that has everyone losing their shit. I wasn't searching whatsoever, but one of these tracks managed to find me last night. For some reason unknown, I just can't keep this one to myself. Alesso's version of "Good Love" is nearly flawless - but when you mix in a little Whitney Houston to PERFECTION, it legitimately can not be beaten. Toss this smack [...]

![The Good Lovelies @ Shenkman Arts Centre [December 13, 2011]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3927973_lg.jpg)
This was my first time attending a show at the Shenkaman Arts Centre in Orleans. All I have to say is, this is one nice venue and the seats are very comfortable. I was there to see the Good Lovelies play. It was their beginning of their "Have A Merry Christmas". Ottawa was the first stop in their 9 day Ontario tour. I was surprised to see Ben Whiteley who plays in New Country Rehab and sometimes [...]
OUT NOW /// House Anxiety

Bedroom beat crafter, Trevor and Ever is at it again with a brand new jaw dropping gem off his upcoming EP " New Gradience ". Not much is known about the upcoming production, but I'm assuming with a strong sneak peak recently dropped on his soundcloud titled "I'm Not" that it will be something to keep your ear to the ground for. The new track has the same warm funk feel that Trevor has almost trade marked; bouncy kicks, radiating synths and addictive vocal samples creates an overwhelming amount of depth in these productions. You get [...]
On a less glitchy, dub-steppy note, these two remixes bring out the fever in songs that already had more than enough diva to spare. The patients? Nero's "Crush On You" and DEVolution & Amy Pearson's "Good Love." The doctors? Producers Sound Remedy and Alesso. You'll be in drag by the end of the tracks, whether you want to or not. Not that these two songs needed fixing. But a little electronic surgery doesn't hurt from time to time. Nero - Crush On You (Sound Remedy Remix) by Sound Remedy [...]
Another fire-inducing electronic jam here; in similar vein to that of the explosive "Calling", posted a couple of weeks ago. Alesso knows what he's doing with these remixes; and "Good Love" is no different. As a heads up, give this one the typical minute to build up, but you already knew that. Hit the stream below and support him on iTunes. A free download would be sweet; but then I'd have Seal Team 6 at my door. Apologies in advance. Tweet

Alesso let loose a preview of this floor filler a few weeks back. Today the full length CDQ. Expect to hear this in DJ sets worldwide over the next few months. Monster track. Alesso ( Facebook ) ( Soundcloud ) Rating 8.5

HOOOOOOOOOOLY GOD. Alesso is just absurd. DEVolution - Good Love (Alesso Remix) (feat Amy Pearson) Related posts: LMFAO- Party Rock Anthem (Alesso Remix) Tiesto - Heiress Of Valentina (Alesso Remix) Nadia Ali, Starkillers, and Alex Kenji - Pressure (Alesso Remix)

Alesso has been nothing short of spectacular this past year. I cannot even begin to list the amount of accomplishments this young man has done creating quite a big name for himself. Another epic remix of DEVolution's track, 'Good Love,' that continues his hot streak of 2011, check it out here.

I was just on my way out the door, and I as I wen to shut off my computer this new Alesso preview caught my eye. So here I am running late now because I just had to get this epic-prog remix posted. There has not been a release date announced that I know of, but I very well could have missed it in my rush. Hit up Alesso on Facebook , Twitter and Soundcloud for more information!! [...]

Maybe I've glossed over my love of Good Lovelies before in doing a post that looks like any other. But this new album is as much a stand out as their last. So to celebrate the excellence of Let the Rain Fall , I'll do something a little special and different. I hope you like food and short stories. If you don't know me, you should know that I love to cook. If I had the patience to take decent pictures I'd probably be a food blogger [...]
![Albums of 2011: First quarter [Top 25]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3407220_lg.jpg)
Wow! The first four months has flown by so quickly. I really don't do this until the end of the year. But I think it would be cool to do my Top 25 albums that came out in the first quarter. (IE Winter month/Jan-April) Since May has begun, I shall list my favorite albums that came out in the first four months. You maybe shocked and surprised on the list. Letting you know, I don't count re-issues/re-releases. So here it is, the Top 25. (If I forgotten any albums that came out in the [...]

I haven't been to the Black Sheep Inn in quite some time. Last time I was there was Land Of Talk on April 11, 2010 . I was there to see Toronto's Good Lovelies (Somehow I thought they were East Coast) on March 31st. There was no openers, just the band itself which is a first when attending shows at the Black Sheep Inn. Also the show was being tape for CBC Radio 2 's Canada Live. Before the show I did an email interview with Kerri Ough, which is [...]

Taken from the 2009 Ottawa Folk Festival. Love the sunglasses! I rarely do interviews through emails but I was eager to this one with Kerri from The Good Lovelies . Check out on what I asked Kerri and have an interesting insight on the band. Since they are playing a show (March 31st) at the Black Sheep Inn . Which I am going to catch tonight. So here is the interview. How has the tour been promoting the album? [...]
On February 22nd Juno Award-winning trio Good Lovelies return with their third full length album Let The Rain Fall. The Toronto group once again bring their combination of folk and roots with hints of jazz to create a charming playful mix. From the lead track "Made For Rain", the record oozes with hooks that seem yanked forward from a bygone era. Much of that comes from Good Lovelies'

Band #42: The Good Lovelies When/Where: January 10th, Club Passim , Cambridge, MA Expectations: Club Passim is a sit-down folky kind of venue, so it's a different kind of concert but I heard The Good Lovelies like to interact with their audience so I think it will be a good fit. Concert: These three ladies know how to entertain [...]

I have a thing for sweet harmony of any type, but not all harmonies are created equal - or should be. And though there are many factors which can affect how voices blend - from range to accent, from tone to purity of voice - gender pairing has much to do with the fundamental possibilities which can emerge from singing together. More often than not, strong male/female duos and mixed-gender groups produce a study in contrast, leaning heavily on the contrast between their vocal range and tone - see the newest [...]
