Dude I love when small crews come together to make an independent video for the homies. More often than not these video are a lot better in quality and skating than most big budget features, and when you have skaters like Archetype rider Tony Karr Chocolate am Stevie Perez and the LA Destroyer Lamare Hemmings in your vid you know that shit is gonna be tight..

GoodLuck gives you your passport to a childhood revisited. Where wonder, fantasy and fun transport you to a world of their imagination. It's not a place where people stand and watch you on a stage. They surround you; they engulf you; they are one with the experience. Leave your pretence behind, come in with an open mind and let us, just for one night. They give you The Lucky Packet events at Trinity each Wednesday. So the Lucky Packet events have been a spectacle. Think a life size playground for adults. A wonderland. A night of intriguing [...]

So, to keep on making this intro short; [...]

The Rocket Fuel Podcast has released a special Fest 10 edition episode. In the podcast listeners can hear new tracks from Samiam , Nothington , Polar Bear Club and the premiere of a new track from Good Luck . The song is titled "Impossible" and comes from their upcoming record Without Hesitation . Also in the episode, Fest organizer Tony Weinbender lets it slip that the "mystery band" playing at the Double Down on Friday is not a band that has played Fest before. Listeners [...]
( Self released ) L.A.'s Good Luck Bear are a sweet band, befitting of their namesake—that green, shamrocked cuddler from the Care Bears. Their good-natured lyrics are filled with just the right hint of nostalgic sadness, reminding one of innocent 60s pop bands like the Turtles without actually sounding like those bands. This band is much more in the vein of early 00s indie rock, the kind of falsetto-voiced, clean-guitar stuff the Shins and Built to Spill used to spin out in their sleep. The Nearest Faraway Place keeps the lackadaisical good-times [...]

Good Luck are playing a short string of East Coast shows in two weeks. You can see the dates below by clicking Read More . The band recently recorded their second LP, but we have no firm date of release yet.

There's a multitude of decent podcasts online covering the conversations around the topic of music, but some rise above the others in quality and ideas. Mud Hut Digital have been producing episodic chats with a number of the online community's commentators over the last few months, including other bloggers such as Sunset In The Rearview and The Von Pip Musical Express , among others. They've also featured the likes of The Good Natured and Little Comets in merited take overs of the show. Mud Hut are a promotions agency [...]
On April 6, 2011, Grooveshark, the popular streaming service, was shut out of Google's Android marketplace, at the request of the RIAA. The company was given no explanation, apart from that the RIAA wanted it taken down. Google complied, which has really chafed the ass of Grooveshark, who released a monster letter aimed at Google saying that Grooveshark broke no laws, and that it plans to start fighting Google in the courts. Here's a sampling of the letter: On April 6, 2011, Grooveshark learned the hard way what happens to companies that fail to respond to [...]

From his explosive debut on Untold's Hessle, to his string of genre-defying EPs, and finally his amazing debut album, James Blake was undoubtedly one of the most innovative artists of of 2010. He used to perform live with Mount Kimbie but now he's selling out shows across the Atlantic and all over the US. When [...]

Let me take you all the way back to January 2011 when this album came out. This is the third album from Berkeley based Nerd Baller Robot Science . To begin with the fact that each of the three released albums has it's own unique feel in tempo and style is a feat within the genre of electronic / chiptunes. Doodads (2009) for me was stylistically the most evocative of Video Game sounds while Square (2010) felt more spacious and ambient. Good Luck transitions into a more up tempo [...]

Bloomington, IN's Good Luck are currently at work on a new full-length. More details are expected soon; the band has been updating their twitter feed with some of the happenings. Once out, the new LP will follow up 2008's Into Lake Griffy . In the interim, they also released the Demonstration demo/EP last year.
I'll be honest, these days I don't really listen to as much ska as I used to with a few exceptions. Perhaps it's the lack of newer ska bands that don't completely suck, or perhaps it's because all my favorite ska bands rarely tour (*cough* Mustard Plug *cough*) or just release albums I don't dig anymore (River City Rebels). However, there are a few gems in my ska collection that I will

While I wouldn't consider myself an electronica aficionado, like fellow LBYB writer Leisha, I do enjoy a good mix when I hear it. This new artist, Robot Science, or Charlie Yin as he's better known to his classmates, is a student at UC Berkley. Yin sounds like your typical Chinese-American undergrad (despite being freakishly tall for an Asian, 6'23), however, he's got a whole other side to him that drops insanely inventive tracks. I wouldn't mind having him for a dormmate. Need music to study? Ask Yin to play "Plush." Need music to sleep? Play the mellow track, [...]

Rating: 8.1/10 Robot Science may have been quite an intelligent ploy to make me listen to Good Luck solely by looking at the group's name. After all, who doesn't daydream about robots; when they'll take over the world or begin their first human vs robot world war. More importantly, who in their right mind can resist listening to something that just might be correlated with them? The answer: Nobody. The truth is, despite any songs from Good Luck actually involving robots or any imaginations I may have dreamed, expectations [...]
