I remember finding it completely implausible to grasp the concept that adults considered years as short periods of time as a kid - there were always going to be 52 weeks in a given year, and I had hoped (and still hope) that there will be memorable events in every year to come that would make it seem like more than a fleeting moment. Sometime since then, I've come to realize what they meant. I'm not sure when the transformation occurred, but it did. Or at least I think I understand now. Now, looking back on the years that makes [...]
Coachella, the three day music festival that's held annually in Indio, California just announced the lineup of this year's performers. A wide range of artists ranging from The Black Keys to Kanye West are set to perform. With a long history of having great musical acts we're excited to announce some Feed the Beat artists [...]
Sometimes you hit a power-pop streak and there's just no fighting it. I have found myself in just such a situation over the past week. Now, I wouldn't have ever considered myself a Hellogoodbye fan, but considering my recent musical mood swing and the fact that their new album is exceptionally good you're the lucky [...]

So, I thought I'd put together a little list of my favorite albums of the year. I never feel quite right about where I cut off the list, so to cope with my feelings, this year I've made an honorable mention consisting of... Connect the Dots by Stacy Clark was an incredibly fun singer/songwriter album that crept up on my play counts. The Suburbs by The Arcade Fire had some standout tracks, but I couldn't completely connect to the alt rock ensemble's overdone anthem. Teen Dream by Beach House was at [...]
While a large portion of music websites/blogs posted their top album lists prior to the end of 2010, we here at Music for Perfect People decided to wait. Right when you thought 2010 was in the your rearview mirror .. BOOM .. another list emerges. So, here are the top 20 albums (in alphabetical order by band name) that were spun the most, by yours truly, in 2010: Aloe Blacc - Good Times The Black Keys - Brothers [...]
10. Underoath - Ø ( Disambiguation) [Tooth and Nail] I devoted one of my longer posts this year to the metalcore phenomenon that is Underoath. Once the forerunner of "screamo," the Tooth and Nail lifers have grown into a beast of another nature. Ø (Disambiguation) chronicles the band at a key turning point in its history. Coming off a less-than-stellar album and the departure [...]

Who would have guessed it? We totally didn't see that one coming. Thankfully, you can still listen to today's Free at Noon performance from the comfort of your own cubicle, either on the radio or online .

So, yeah, Good Old War’s sophomore album (which is unironically titled Good Old War ) is out now and something you might be into if you’re a fan of great vocal harmonies, playful melodies, and unobtrusive (but engaging) indie folk instrumentation. What that really means is that almost everyone I’ve played either Good Old War or the band’s first album for has really enjoyed them. There’s just something timelessly and universally appealing about what they do (and not entirely dissimilar to Simon & Garfunkel). The band also kills it live so check ‘em [...]

So I know I said I was gonna post about the new Talib Kweli stuff, but its cloudy outside and I'm feeling rather autumnal, so I thought I would share some of my favorite folk tracks of the moment. Update: After several listens, I've decided that this is my ultimate peace of mind mix as well. So kick back, hit play, and relax. Also, here is a zip file of all the songs if you're into that sort of thing: "I'm Feeling Autumnal" Folk Mini-Mixtape (.zip file) [...]

So I know I said I was gonna post about the new Talib Kweli stuff, but its cloudy outside and I'm feeling rather autumnal, so I thought I would share some of my favorite folk tracks of the moment. My Own Sinking Ship - Good Old War : These guys are masters of upbeat melancholy. There music tells you that maybe things aren't going so well, but hey, thats the way it is, keep your head up. They also know how to kill with the vocal harmonies. The Dreamer - The Tallest [...]

Plenty of whiny emo kids (and maybe just some emo lovers) will descend on the National tomorrow night to see Dashboard Confessional . Good Old War , Cory Branan and John Lefler will also be performing. All good acts worth checking out. I'm expecting an underage crowd and plenty of girls swooning over Chris Carrabba. The new album Alter the Ending is actually quite good, although Swiss Army Romance (which is in the middle of its 10th anniversary) [...]

So I dropped by the Wiltern to Catch the Dr. Dog show last friday. It was the first time that I'd seen them since Coachella and 2nd time since the most recent album Shame, Shame dropped. Unfortunately, for me I spent the week reminiscing about some of my favorite older albums (mostly Easy Beat and We All Belong) which had a much more 602s rock feel than their current crop of songs which are more like a poppy mishmash of Dave Matthews and Bruce Springsteen. I was elated to find out that Gold Old War, an emo-folk band [...]
