GoodBooks is the latest group to succumb to the almighty remix powers of Crystal Castles. The already beautiful vocals of the track have been dirtied up a bit & the melody has been sprinkled with MicroKorg stabs & the 8-bit sounds you've come to expect from CC. You can watch the video for Leni on the Goodbooks website The GoodBooks - Leni (Crystal castles remix) [reccomended] The GoodBooks

The question has echoed endlessly: what makes the perfect pop song? The Beatles knew the answer, as did The Beach Boys, but contemporary artists often find themselves struggling to create a pop masterpiece that can be capably adored by legions of listeners. In a modern sense, GoodBooks have come surprisingly close to making such a song in their new single, 'Leni'. Much like Hot Chip, GoodBooks have borrowed the influences of 80s power-pop legends such as XTC and Talking Heads, along with the lovable 90s Brit-pop of Pulp and Blur. 'Leni' has all the goods with a verse [...]
The 'Goo' section of my itunes has been filling with shit the last few weeks. No, not 'Good Charlotte', or 'Goo Goo Dolls'. And not even 'Goodbye Mr Mackenzie'. No, this is GOOD shit. Good Shoes are from Sarf London. This is the kind of classic single that the first time you hear it sounds immediately familiar. In fact I feel sure I have been listening to this all summer... but it's not on my computer & I don't specifically recall hearing it anywhere. So maybe I haven't. I have been listening to their previous [...]

I've plucked this track by The Jane Bradfords straight off the BBC Radio 1 unsigned site [ link ], which is usually on the money about new artists. The Jane Bradfords are in fact one lad (Deci Gallen) and a laptop, with a band joining him for live performances. It's all sounding a bit Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly isn't it? Never fear, this is unashamedly bright pop countered by gravelly vocals. It's lovely and the intro even reminds me of The B52's or something. The Jane Bradfords - Hide [...]
What have I done for you lately? Recently I've just gotten drunk and been belligerent, but that's something at least. I'm coming home to Alabama in one week so you might be without me for three weeks while we're sorting our Visas out. So, now is your last chance for a while to listen to some serked out tracks. Well, these tracks actually have nothing to do with me. Except that I've been trying to find local bands to check out recently and myspace has been my main window into U.K. artists. So [...]

Young upstarts GoodBooks (no space) bring whispered and high-spirited Indie-Rock with a slight nod of to electro. This is - as it should be - understated and free of gimmicky, shout-a-long chorus's and thumping synths. GoodBooks are signed Transgressive - stable mates include Young Knives, The Pippettes and the Noisettes - some the best new UK music - so they're in great company. Turn it Back by Good Books Links: The Not Your Usual Bollocks podcast [...]

It may seem to the recurring visitor that I'm on a Transgressive binge, that's my favourite UK indie label to you. GoodBooks have seen their single " Walk With Me " released by the label in April this year, having previously surfed the indie wave with their self-released EP "Valves and Robots". You can try and find it, but if you've just recently turned art-rocker lover don't be alarmed if you don't. Just the way the arty cookie crumbles, for people to moan that now they're [...]
