Brighton based band Goodluck Jonathan recently released a reworked version of their current single "The Future's Got No Love For Us" which features London rapper Bradyz. The track is a more restrained version than the original, but has lost none of the bite of the poignant social commentary of Nick Brookes' lyrics. Whilst in the studio the band filmed the recording session as a live performance. The band will release their second album in 2012 on Something Nothing Records.

Goodluck Jonathan new single 'The Futures Got No Love For Us' is out on the 28th of November ahead of their second album that's set to be released in 2012 through Something Nothing Records. It's a bit of a challenge to find more about Goodluck Jonathan online as they decided to use the same name as the current president of Nigeria. Goodluck Jonathan offer a great varied and textured sound that although being vaguely similar to Bloc Party, also contains a lot of originality. While I'm a big fan of this song, it has a really [...]

We just received this lovely black-and-white music video by young indie rock outfit Goodluck Jonathan , which was filmed in and around their hometown Brighton . You can even see the famous Pier in the background once. «The Future's Got No Love For Us» will officially be released on November 28 via Something Nothing Records .
Things started eerily quiet upstairs at The Hope. Quiet enough to grab a pint, have a sit down, a nice way to end the week sure, but not what's expected from one of Brighton's best and bravest venues! Luckily it was quick to change, Live Like Kings snatched up the first support slot. Things started calmly with an acoustic solo performance from front man Adam O' Neill. He was soon joined though for a run through of their particularly lauded live set. The subsequent raw, yet emotive set, remained punctuated by the thumping bass lines that hold Adam's [...]

Depending on how up to date you are on African politics, this may or may not be the review you are looking for. Sharing their name with the current Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan are a five-piece from Brighton who have just released their debut album 'This is Our Way Out'. The reason a genre hasn't been mentioned yet is because they're too hard to pin down, throughout the debut LP there's enough musical influences to pick out you could form the world's greatest supergroup. Perhaps the reason for the change in style [...]

Bands' debut albums are more often than not 'a collection of songs put on a record' rather than a fully cohesive listen. The first full-length from Goodluck Jonathan is exactly that: 'This Is Our Way Out' is in fact three EPs (similarly named) collected as-is. This flippant approach to sequencing would suggest that the album is all over the place. Not even close. It works extremely well, with the record as a whole coming off as something extremely intense, even in its quieter moments: 'Fall of America' makes allusions to 9/11, and the post-rock-influenced title track features a [...]
Broken Heart from Goodluck Jonathan on Vimeo . The wheels are firmly in motion for this Brighton band, and they've returned with an absolute cracker of a lead single to prove it. 'Broken Heart' (out next week) is the first song taken from Goodluck Jonathan 's forthcoming debut album 'This Is Our Way Out'. Why are we stressing that it's the album? There was a series of EPs released by the quintet over the last while that share the name. We've been keeping up with them, and they're all [...]

Brighton upstarts Goodluck Jonathan seem to have a little trouble in propelling themselves forward. Quite aside from the fact that this is the follow up to their debut This Is Our Way Out EP 1 , whilst listening to it you could be forgiven for thinking that they're trapped in 2004. Only if this had been released back in those heady days then I'm sure it would have been plastered all over MTV2 and dripping with Zane Lowe's saliva. That's not necessarily as bad a thing as it might sound though, a lot of great bands emerged [...]

Just recently it seems my mailbox has been particularly full! Plus, I must admit to having neglected you all this week. I had the opportunity to do the online PR for a charity single so apologies all round. I hope you all enjoy some of these artists which are basically the best of the singles I have received this week. First up is Goodluck Jonathan whose second EP in a trilogy entitled This Is Our Way Out drops 22nd November on Something or Nothing. It has a slightly retro indie feel. I can [...]

Goodluck Jonathan From: Brighton, United Kingdom I may be jumping to conclusions here but I assume that Goodluck Jonathan are named after the Nigerian leader who threatened to suspend the national soccer team from playing for two years because of its poor World Cup showing. Which seems an odd choice of band name for an angsty math-rock band from Brighton. The edgy five piece have been creating a buzz around the nether regions of the UK indie scene following well received appearances at Club NME. You [...]
AUDIOVISUALS/// Goodluck Jonathan - Broken Heart Brighton seems to be spewing out more new bands than we can currently keep up with. Judging by their quality, we hope the well doesn't run dry any time soon. These guys are Goodluck Jonathan , who seem to know a thing or two about wrapping interesting song structures around a good tune. Not to mention, their drummer knows what he's doing, to say the least. Good luck? They don't need any of that where they're headed, because their music is doing all the talking, and they're gonna make themselves heard, [...]
