After the addition of new members to Goodnight Owl a new more nourished sound has come with it. With a new sound, comes a new name. Love Migrate have all but left the electronic side to their sound, but replaced it with a stunning, dark side to their indie folk-pop. Put Bon Iver , The Strokes and Sigur Ross in a room together, the meshed sound would be pretty close to what this talented Melbourne outfit pull off so well. Love Migrate are celebrating [...]
The Goodnight Owl guys are no longer But, Love Migrate, the new band for the guys are taking forth that excellent melbourne style indie pop. They've got a new track to help celebrate the new name...and kind of a new sound. Although, if you've been following the guys for a while, you would've noticed that [...]
WLDCT is a DJ/Producer from L.A. who just sent me his "Straight Outta Compton" remix of "Wonderwall". It's damn addicting. He found a perfect mixture of the contrasting genres, and made something fresh. Perfect for a solid chill session with your buds, a blunt, and a few beers. Let the good vibes roll. [mp3]: Oasis - Wonderwall (WLDCT's Straight Outta Compton Mix) ) Check out some more of his stuff at his soundcloud (I've included his remix of M.I.A.'s Steppin' Hard below). You can also follow him on twitter. [...]

Goodnight Owl are a new band out of Melbourne Australia who released their self-titled debut EP last year. 'Here is their newly posted video ( a debut music video) "Maps and Compasses". Goodnight Owl – Maps and Compasses *via We All Want Someone blog myspace page

Goodnight Owl are a promising young band from Melbourne, Australia (lots of cool stuff coming from Aussie land as of late). They released their self-titled debut EP last year (which you can buy, here ), and they just filmed their debut music video for "Maps and Compasses", an outstanding song from the EP. "Maps and Compasses" features electronic beats that are light and free, just like The Postal Service. It also features distant guitars that made me think of Sigur Ros. The vocals are strong as can be: full with emotion and care. You can't help [...]
Thanks to Sabrina at Sabi's Aus Music Blog for the heads up about Goodnight Owl's debut video for Maps & Compasses. Btw, check out her site, you'll find an amazing list of a lot of great Aussie bands (new, unsigned, indie) there! Goodnight Owl are Eddie Alexander, Joe Walker, Bella Walker and Eric Moore, an [...]
so, usually we tend to post film clips on wednesday as part of our clipnesday series. But this is an exception. It's still a film clip...but it's from one of my favourite bands and I don't know if I can last until next Wednesday to post it! It is of course Goodnight Owl. It's their [...]

I'm beginning to sound like a broken record I know, but this list was probably the most difficult thing I've had to compile, even outside of the blog. I think the main contributing factor behind this is that the blog isn't specialised, there's just too much good stuff out there to choose from. We don't just post some electro/dance kinda stuff. We don't just put a focus on indie rock. We post both of those...and about 50 other styles too (50 might be a slight tiny exageration...). As our About page says, "we'll like just about [...]

Friday night we checked out Goodnight Owl at the Wesley Anne in Northcote. Was a great little gig. Well…actually…it was pretty loud, intense, and chair dance inducing. More on that later though. About a month or so ago I got sent an EP by Goodnight Owl. I posted one of their tracks, Maps & Compasses and a few people commented on how they liked it and how it kind of blew them away. It blew me away too. The whole EP did actually. Eddie (singer and guitar) has this knack of writing really nice [...]

we used our nose to find the winding road ♫ Goodnight Owl - Maps And Compasses Quick, before you realize that another band with Owl in the name could draw comparisons to The Postal Service, close your eyes and let this one wash over you. Australia's Goodnight Owl are nailing this infectious stutter-bloop jams pretty well. "Maps And Compasses" is their most addictive, but "She Kept A Secret" and "Verandah" show that these guys didn't just stumble upon the magic. This just feels like romance music. Put this on a X-Mas mix [...]

GOODNIGHT OWL Listening to a newly discovered song over and over and over, for a ridiculous number of times, is rather an irrational and overly obsessive thing to do. You secretly don't want anyone to know that the instant this said tune just finished in your earphones you're fiddling with your ipod to restart it. Still, let's be honest, we ALL do it don't we. One thing for sure is that it's very rare and it takes a blindingly good song to cause such an abandon of your usual sensible self-control. Well we are openly admitting [...]

wow. It's been a while I know. I'm in exam mode at the moment so the whole blog thing has been put on the backburner. But, I figure I should at least get one post out there for you guys! And what better than an all encompassing New Music First post. Some pretty good stuff here - eclectic. All with an electronic tinge though which is always good! First up is a local band called Goodnight Owl . These guys are from Melbourne and they produce some pretty nice guitar pop music. But then it has something [...]

Greetings music lovers, here's some tasty new cuts of music. My appeal for new writers on Music Liberation was a success, you'll be seeing some new faces round here pretty soon, so watch out! MP3: George Lenton - Jungle Whomp Dubstep is really taking off this year, even starting to break into the mainstream with Snoop Dog remixing Chase And Status , interesting times. I like my dub [...]

Becoming best friends at a the age of six in Central Australia, it has taken 13 years for Eddie and Joe to become bored of playing on swings and see-saws and finally do something productive.
