San Francisco's  Treasure Island Music Festival  is a bit under-appreciated by outsiders, but that makes for an ideal situation, as there's room to breathe and far fewer people in attendance than its surrounding competition (i.e. Outside Lands, Hardly Strictly). The festival's close proximity to the city's trademark bay only adds to the experience, as well. The transition from day to night is unforgettable; the autumn-tinged sunset that hugged the surrounding skyline on Sunday evening was something ripped out of  National Geographic . There are no greater fans than Gossip fans. Likewise, I can't think of a band that loves their fans more than Beth Ditto and gang. Friday's show at The Fonda Theatre was packed from the balcony to the stage, with more unabashed dancing than I'm used to. Special shout out to LA local and favorite Tashi Condelee who killed in assisting lead vocals on "Get A Job:; we agree with Ditto - definitely one to watch. Photos and words by Melissa Moore. [...]
