The fourth annual Hangout Music Fest took place this past weekend on the sandy beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. On Friday we mentioned that MTV would be webcasting many performances from Hangout, but on Saturday they changed the schedule and knocked off a number of the acts we were most excited to see including Tom Petty, The Black Crowes and Stevie Wonder. Friday was an afternoon and evening of endless sit-ins at the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Florida. There were guest spots galore, especially on the main Peach Stage. Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule brought out John Bell, Dave Schools, Jimmy Herring and JoJo Hermann of Widespread Panic for an incendiary, set-closing version of Neil Young's Cortez The Killer. Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule will hit the road this spring with fellow HT faves and label mates The Revivalists for a seven-show jaunt that will end with a Jazz Fest late-night at New Orleans' Mahalia Jackson Theater on May 3rd. As its title suggests, Mountain Jam is a music festival held on a mountain. This year's edition, set for June 6th-9th at Hunter Mountain, NY, boasts a lineup of Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh, Primus, The Avett Brothers, Dispatch, Gary Clark Jr., Deer Tick, Gov't Mule, and Rubblebucket, among others.
