There are only a few grindcore bands I dig these days, and most of them need to have plenty of hardcore influences to keep me interested. Los Angeles Graf Orlock are masters of the genre, and I've been listening to them a shit ton lately. Playing self-described "cinema-grind", as we've posted before... these dudes take movie themes and just run wild with them. When I first heard Graf Orlock, I was blown away immediately. Any band that could take the Jurassic Park theme song and turn it into a grindcore song gets an A+ in my book. I liked Ghostlimb's last record, Bearing & Distance more than all the Graf Orlock stuff. So Brooklyn Vegan's release of their new song "Construction" got me all excited. Even with the ample time I've had to digest it, "Construction" still has me guessing at what Ghostlimb's third LP Infrastructure will be delivering. The song is aggressive but it explores more 'post' styles than anything before.
