Filed under: News , UK Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has spoken out about his fantasy for the US to have "no importance in the world" as part of a new impropmtu political video for politics and culture guerilla group Instigate Debate . Speaking as part of an interview titled 'Instigate Debate Presents Peter and Graham' -- alongside former Libertines and Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty -- Coxon declared, "Part of me wants to kind of clear America like [...]
Thanks to H who, in the comments on yesterday's story about Graham Coxon sending a internet posse over to Queen Margot after the blog gave him a snarky review. As H points out, Coxon eventually turned up and gracefully held up his hands : i want to say sorry if any comments on my forum upset or angered you. i do think what you have said here is a bit childish, felt a bit slighted, thought it a bit of a random pop- and a bit cruel but..y'know...i'll survive. i do take offense [...]
Suzy Norman, who blogs at Queen Margot And The Supperclub, suggested that Graham Coxon might not come over well in No Distance Left To Run : I couldn't help thinking I was watching a plasticine plonker, with wire glasses trying to remember where he'd put his oversized duffle coat as he was running late for new Nick Park audition where he hopes to play Wallace's nephew who's just been cycling around Europe on a monocycle but now needs a place to stay for a week before he goes on spiritual retreat in Gumberland; a sort of autobiographical [...]

Damon Albarn's had as triumphant a twelve months as almost any breathing being of late, embracing best bud Graham Coxon on London door steps amongst roll-up fag smoke before outshining a voluptuous full moon at the end of a muddy, ruddy ruckus of a weekend at Glastonbury, before topping everything off with a surefire UK number one record with Gorillaz' trip-hop treasure chest Plastic Beach this week. Oh, and then he'll be taking his self-processed decently turned-out band over the pond to round off this year's Coachella. Whilst ginormous London gigs are promised, his troupe of cartoon tyrants [...]
Following up a feature on Damon Albarn implies a drop in quality and prestige, especially considering how few artists are able to stay relevant for over twenty years. Even if they cannot be deemed "obscure", many figures are worth exposing regardless of their original prestige. The work they are producing is just that good. Like [...]

DO UPLOADS In our last episode we left you at M. Picking up where we left off . . . M is for Josh Milland's take on O Superman (Laurie Anderson cover). Laurie was one of those weird thoughtful chicks that girls with hairly legs liked. And Peter Gabriel liked her. For a while at least. M is also for mash up: To the Taxmobile!-Beatles vs. Batman. N is for No One Likes Superman Any More-I Fight Dragons. I just love [...]
![[Listen] – #MusicMonday – 20 Songs Of The Week](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2369856_lg.jpg)
If you're unaware of what Music Monday is, it's a Twitter recommendation system where users of Twitter share their favourite music, artists, genres, etc in order to not only find new music themselves but help others find new music too. Using the hashtag (#) followed by "MusicMonday" you can easily find new music posted by the thousands of people making recommendations each week. Every #MusicMonday I'll upload a playlist of 20 songs that I've been listening to (new and old) over the past week and hopefully you'll enjoy some of them. Want [...]

What was the last song you had on repeat? This one has kept me company on a series of very long and cold train journeys this week - I've heard it umpteen times and yet I keep finding myself pressing repeat. It's eight and a half minutes of acoustic, finger-plucky, Graham-y/Martin-y clever clogs pleasure, with added glasses. And birdsong. I'm a bit of a late-comer to this album, which seemed to get a bit of a rough ride in the reviews - it's a step away from the archetypal indie [...]

A friend of mine has been having a hard time lately getting to sleep. I first offered to help her by calling every night before bedtime and talking to her for awhile, as my affection-less monotone can put anyone to sleep within a couple minutes. After mutually deeming that to be a stupid idea, I went with my second option: a mix CD of quiet (but not boring) songs from my favorite bands. Here's what I came up with: 1) Micah P. Hinson - Seems Almost Impossible 2) Tindersticks - Until The [...]

Review: 4 stars (out of 5) Summary: Richly textured melodies juxtaposed with Veirs' mild-manner vocals and unassuming song-craft make this album a must-listen of 2010. Sounds like: Emily Haines, Sufjan Stevens, Graham Coxon - Laura Veirs' new album, July Flame, is a strange monster. It is, if anything, completely unassuming. Upon first glance, one is inclined to see it [...]
To be fair, I haven't tasted Alex James' cheese, but even so, I feel confident in asserting that Graham Coxon wins the 'who had the best post-Blur experience'. Yes, really. Put down that copy of the Good, The Bad And The Queen, you're not making a point, you're just embarrassing yourself. From Happiness In Magazines , this is Freakin' Out: I'm aware, by the way, that 'Freakin' Out' and 'appearing on Jools Holland's show in front of an audience consisting, probably, of Stella McCartney and Trigger from Only Fools [...]
In the spirit of post-Christmas melancholy, I've come across a rather tantalizing, rare track from Blur's back catalogue, all thanks to the wonderful people over at Blur Central. While the original single featured French vocals from Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier, 'To The End (La Comedie)' was re-recorded with the ever-talented 1960's French singer Francoise Hardy after [...]

In The Morning - In an age where electro chamber afro pop remixed into hell will only be a minor blip on music history's radar - Graham Coxon has quietly been trudging on his own terms. Whether it's a sold out stadium or a smokey bar on 6th street, he shows up, ready to work. This beauty released last Spring is timeless. Clocking in at 8:27 - no gadgets required. True soul. So, the curtain has near closed on 2009. It's snowing, Rage Against the Machine are number one and Simon Cowell is left weeping in a corner – alas, all is generally well this December. Now time to look back over the past year and pick out some of our favourite albums of 2009. Arctic Monkeys – Humbug Arctic Monkeys returned this 2009 with a whole new sound to their name. Produced by the demigod that is Josh Homme, Humbug showcased a darker, more sinister [...]

quoth fauxcommunists rage against the machine. you wouldn't like me when i'm angry said dr bruce banner. yeah? well here's the rub brucey baby: i do like you when you're angry. in fact goddamit i prefer you when you're angry and smashing bloody fuck out of somethingorother. these songs, these songs are the moment, the moment when banners, when banners pupils dilate. these songs, these songs are the scream, that primal scream when the pain and anger, oh all that delicious wet anger comes spewing out. these songs are the wrath of [...]

56. Maxïmo Park 'Quicken The Heart' (Warp) - Better than the last but not as good as the first. 55. Twisted Wheel 'Twisted Wheel' (Columbia) - Unnecessary, nevertheless decent. 54. The Flaming Lips 'Embryonic' (Warner) - Just about worth the tiresome excursion of 18 tracks. [...]

The cull is complete. Down from 29 albums to a slightly more acceptable 17. Now all I've got to do, is sit down and write about them. As with previous years, the list will not be classed as the best albums of 2009, rather it will be my favourite albums of 2009. Note the subtle difference. I make no claims for them being the most innovative, the most ground breaking or the most awe inspiring, sonically adventurous records. They are merely the 17 records that have entertained and excited me the most over the last 12 [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , UK Blur frontman Damon Albarn has said he hasn't thought about the band since the reunion dates the quartet played during the summer. "It was stadiums and everybody singing and very euphoric," Albarn told the Guardian. "Then after the last gig in Scotland I got on the train and left it all behind. That's it, I haven't thought about it since." He added: "I loved every second of it but then when it had [...]
