This Friday, May 3rd, Webster Hall's “Girls and Boys Night,” is about to get funky. Pretty Lights Music's own, Gramatik will be in the house dropping his signature style for all the girls and boys to get down to. Throughout his entire catalog is an abundance of musical influences, including jazz, soul, [...]

I've been a fan of Gramatik for many moons, and have loved hearing his sound shift and evolve over the years. He is produced and distributed by Pretty Lights Music - so if you like Pretty Lights then its a sure bet you'll dig Gramatik. His sound is rooted in hip hop percussion and rhythms, with blues, jazz and funk melodies spattered with modern doses of electronic and dubstep elements. He's an artist who has taken the best of dubstep and applied it to his style without diluting the spirit of what he's really trying to do. His music can [...]

Slovenian house hero Mike Vale talks up his SoundCloud top 5.

You’ve gotta have a grip of confidence if you think you can take on one of the great, enduring anthems of the 90s and actually elevate the proceedings, let along do it justice. I mean, come on! Outside of its chart and critical success, the legacy of No Diggity is largely a product of its crossover appeal. Doesn’t really matter what you’re into. Musically speaking, the track has something for you. Hard-nosed thuggery? Hey Dre . Deft lyricism? Queen Pen’s pretty nimble on the mic. Charm out the ying yang? [...]

Snowball in a nutshell! (Photo Credit: David Rodman ) Held last weekend in Winter Park, CO, the third installment of the Snowball Music Festival can only be described as a raging success – heavy emphasis on the “rage.” Like 2011 and 2012 before it, Snowball 2013 remained heavy on the EDM when putting together its lineup. This year boasted 51 artists in 3 days, featuring local, national, and international names - including some of the biggest names in the electronic music world: Pretty Lights , STS9 , Big Gigantic , Porter [...]

Aaron (Mr.) Carmack , a seasoned producer who hails from Honolulu, Hawaii, has recently released his new “Reality EP”. The EP boasts an impressively diverse array of tempos and genres. He opens it with “The Next Afternoon”, a smooth, yet vibrant track that conjures images of warm summer wanderings, and is reminiscent of Gramatik ’s softer songs, (think “ Skylight ”). The album then unleashes the grunge with “Mikos Da Gawd – Beez (Mr. Carmack Redux)”, followed up by “Cocaine, With Great Dane”, a song that has Rio de Janeiro’s baile funk written all over it. Carmack is selling [...]
