Leave it to Gramatik to seamlessly create a new subgenre. Gramatik, as we have described before , has had funk, soul, blues and jazz running through his veins since he was a toddler, and while that alone doesn't give him the authority to on all these genres, his music clearly does. Bluestep is a complex yet simply layered experimentation merging two complete opposite genres into one seamless sound. There are no limits to what Gramatik cannot mix together and this is just another example of his brilliance.
Gramatik recently took to social media to announce he would be departing from Pretty Lights Music to pursue a new adventure with his own LowTemp label. The announcement appeared over the weekend and was followed by the first single from his forthcoming album The Age of Reason . The track follows typical Gramatik form by fusing his unique genre-clashing with live guitar elements. This New Yorker starts off with distinctive drum kicks and slow-building bass growls before incorporating some bluesy guitar riffs. Without losing his hip-hop inspired vibes, Gramatik gives fans a powerful peak at what is to come from [...]

Fresh off a rigorous world tour, Gramatik recently announced the launch of his own label Lowtemp which "is an abbreviation of low-temperature, which implies that the label is putting out "cool" music." according to him. Starting an own roster of artists seems to be the recent trend for electronic musicians, but Gramatik aims to be fully independent and have complete creative control of his works while having the freedom of being able to do what he wants. To celebrate that, we get "Bluestep," a smooth blues-meets-electronic track that incorporates catchy guitar riffs with heavy bass. It [...]
Oh wow. To be honest I had never really been a huge fan of Gramatik . That all changed when I had the pleasure of seeing him live at Snowglobe. He turned out to be one of my favorite artists who played. Then he released this song, well it's actually not technically released; this may be the only place you can find a download until tomorrow, but you guys are worth it. This is the first song of his upcoming album The Age of Reason , and it blew my mind honestly. It was meant to symbolize all things 2012 [...]
Gramatik is back at it in 2013 with a brand new single to go with their brand new self run label Lowtemp. “Bluestep,” is the first single off the upcoming LP The Age Of Reason. and it was dropped yesterday set to a 2012 recap video of Gramatik’s show/festival footage from this past year. read more
Big news from now former Pretty Lights Music artist Gramatik. He has released the track "Bluestep" which is the first song off his upcoming EP, the first on his own label LowTemp. It's rather exciting to see an artist branch out on their own musical path and if this release is any indication on where the label is headed, then damn. The single is an eclectic mix of electronic genres which flow dynamically throughout the course of the composition. Complete with 502s and 602s blues pauses, it really gives meaning to the term "Bluestep". That being [...]

By festie standards, Snowball Music Festival is still relatively young. However, in a few short years they've already put themselves on the map as one of the best in the west. This year's lineup is absolutely ridiculous, which is why we're stoked to give away two sets of tickets. Check out the details below. How to enter the contest 1) "Like" us (The Music [...]
BANG! Time for me to add a new EP to my discography! I think the following statement made by The Pirate Bay in January explains very well what #digitalfreedom is all about: ''Over a century ago Thomas Edison got the patent for a device which would "do for the eye what the phonograph does for the ear". He called it the Kinetoscope. He was not only amongst the first to record video, he was also the first person to own the copyright to a motion picture. Because of Edison's patents for the motion pictures it was [...]

Back in 2010, everything was about mashups. They were probably more prevalent than remixes, as everybody and their mother figured out how to overlap two tracks on their laptop. The truth is that mashups have a tendency to suck (much moreso than remixes). So, this list doesn't contain 10 tracks, but rather represents a "best of" lineup for the song mix category. It might have been longer, but I didn't want to over-represent folks like The Hood Internet and Carlos Serrano. Oh, and just for shits and giggles, I threw in Bastille's silly mashup of The [...]
After his grungey glitch hop collaboration with Gramatik entitled "Digital Liberation is Mad Freedom," Griz teams up with fellow Colorado residents Big Gigantic for a thrilling, adrenaline-inducing drumstep production. Initially reminiscent of "Bonfire" by Knife Party for its reggae vibes and drumstep tempo, "Power" progresses from a monstrous bass drop to a jazzy interlude fueled by live saxophone. Between Griz, Big Gigantic, and Gramatik, a new era of glitch hop-driven dubstep is quickly forming, backed by each producer's impressive live instrumental abilities. Stay tuned for more inter-Colorado collaborations and pick up "Power" for free from SoundCloud . [...]
Suicide Sundaes - Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen, Sunday is back. Greg is here to bring you the week's dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn't care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. Hope everyone is keeping warm during these winter months, if not here's a rather large list of some cool tracks and heavy hitters to help get that blood pumping. In an attempt to make up [...]

![[Live Show Review] Gramatik – Denver, CO](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4632218_lg.jpg)
All three artists who took the stage Saturday night had something in common; they all had fallen in love with music at an early age. Using his undeniable ear to mix and mash parallel sounds, Mux Mool started the night showering the audience with an electronic shockwave. For Mux, he found his sound in a sampling keyboard when he was a kid. For Talib Kweli , he found his echo from the Afrocentric rappers he heard and met in high school. Talib took to the stage with a mesmerizing voice showing the audience how strong one voice [...]

Every person has that one musician that just makes their insides light up. The artist that a person can pick out whenever they hear those familiar jazzy beats or those jaw-clenching drops or those addictive whimsical lyrics. Well this Saturday night at the Fillmore, one of this writer’s favorite musicians is making his first headlining appearance. Gramatik , a master of mixing, is bringing his addicting sound to the mountain state. His unique jazz like [...]
![Bassnectar @ Sound Academy 10.11.12 [Show Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4613280_lg.jpg)
Nine o clock on a Saturday night in Toronto. The pier is quiet, and the Sound Academy is dark. The doors haven't opened yet. A few are already in line to get into the venue, but they're few and far between. It's in the dead of night when the busses and vans start to roll in. They're filled with diehard fans who have travelled for days (weeks?) on end, jumping from show to show in every city they can. There's soon a gathering in the parking lot of people in colourful clothes, dreadlocks, holding handmade signs and smearing face paint [...]
