I apologize that this list is kind of cheating, but that's only because there have been two really great Beatles cover albums released in the past few years. I've spent the last couple of days rediscovering Grandaddy . Specifically the first three records . A trio of records that are frankly close to perfection. There's a natural progression of sound across the three that shows experimentation within the confines of the alt-country genre. Mixing in elements of electronica and spaced out minimalism they created wonderful soundscapes on themes of heartbreak, nature and technology.
