Some songs have anthemic choruses about anthemic subjects, like growing up or escaping to the mythic highway (and sitting in mythic traffic). And some are about laying on the couch, being sick and watching Dutch TV. Which in Songblague's opinion, does not diminish the effect one bit. Not to be cynical. It's just the sound itself that's of first importance. Special Two'fer Tuesday — an outro with an awesome synth line and tip of the hat to Prince. Today we have some serious wompers, so get out some heavy headphones or some banging speakers and listen up. Ya dig? First up is Nero's remix of Drake, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West's "Forever." This track has been remixed a lot, true. Few, if any, do it as well as Nero, however. They create this filthy bassline that makes you just want to rage. I almost always drop this when I am building my set up, because it has great buildup and really serious drops. Overall an extremely well produced remix of an already [...]
If I'd have known Vincent Gallo was: The possessor of a mercurial, weepy-willow voice; A fan of Jandek and Lou Reed ; Even weirder than his movie roles would suggest; Played in a band called Gray with Basquiat ; Mindful enough to have said this: "Even in art, if my work wasn't 50 times more interesting than me and my [...]
The song "Outdoor Miner" taken from the Wire album Chairs Missing is a short, sharp pop artefact. It's also one of those touchstone songs that everyone seems to have a cover version of, wearing their post-punk hearts on their sleeves. The actual "serpentine miner" reference in the song is to a fly larva that is noted as the most cosmopolitan species of the leaf miner family, and creates burrows in the leaves they feed on/mine (see pic). The Grays: Outdoor Miner [...]
If there is one musician whose songs make a bad day good or a good day better it is Jason Falkner. Having been in more bands than humanly possible (3 O' Clock, Jellyfish, The Grays, TV Eyes, etc.), Jason is quite the journeyman guitarist. But his voice and his lyrics are equally as impressive. And, like all good musicians, his b-sides are excellent. Yes, I am a true Falk-nerd. The Grays: Both Belong Jason Falkner: NYC TV Eyes: Mission Submission

Hello hello hello, folks, it's time for the doo-tss doo-tss doo-tss episode of Denver's Most Fuckable Rockstars! Now, because I am young and super cool, Lovelies, I can tell you that there's nothing more fun than paying to get in to a crowded sweaty club, staying up way past any feasible semblance of a decent bedtime, paying exorbitant amounts for booze served in paper cups, and going partially deaf from the beats being dropped by this week's Most Fuckable Rockstar. Name: Gray [...]
