I remember writing about Green Gerry two or so years ago and really loving just how different it sounded. He wrote me back with a new track that he describes as a progression from his earlier lo-fi recordings, although it sounds pretty lo-fi to me. Excited to hear more. Awes Awed comes out June 4th. Listen to Raindrops, below. Green Gerry - Raindrops
Green Gerry, the fine Athens/LA purveyor of experimental lo-fi folk, is working on a new release (Awes Awed), a follow up to the exceptional Odd Tymes (which you can snag here). He was kind enough... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]

Just realized it's been almost one and a half years now since we last had Athens, Georgia weirdo folk genius Green Gerry on our pages, but since then he's become sort of an insiders' tip, and he's also made some well-deserved blog rounds , too. This weekend saw two new gems popping up, and listening to "Cockroach Mosaic", a stunning, almost lavish song with a gorgeous melody and beautifully layered vocals drenched in reverb, it became clear that it's about time to pay our tribute to this amazingly talented young fella once again. [...]
Green Gerry, an acid soaked outer space folk trip, has me completely dialed in with their heavenly smooth damn sweet jam "1990s" - the less zoned out track on their two track... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]
Freak-folker Green Gerry has re-emerged from the subterranean with a haunting, Simon and Garfunkel-like love letter in "Celery Salt (Spiderman Quit Fucking With Me)". The track originally appeared with 20 seconds of unedited silence, which we won't play for you, but we we're left with is airy vocals, delicate finger-picking and a beautiful sound that belies shadowy, almost sinister lyrics. Supremely weird Athens singer/songwriter Green Gerry recently assembled a live band called The Jellyfish . He also sent over new demo called "Celery Salt (Spider Man Quit Fucking with Me)," which had about 20 seconds of unintended silence at the beginning (since removed) and some serious microphone clipping. Aside from that, it's probably the loveliest missive I've received from him thus far- a cryptic prose-poem in seven stanzas, adorned equally by fingerplucked guitar, barely there sound washes, and the squeak of his left hand sliding up and down the frets. Gerry's refined a half-singing, half-speaking style that [...]

(Self Released, 2011) I loved Green Gerry's debut full length. Proof . This-- O O O/Egg Nog-- is something like an EP follow-up: four songs. It's marbled with coats of dust and ether, as before. With ghosts inside ghosts, as before. Underwater, as before. And good/beautiful/warped, as before. Instead of an open lake, a pond. Drown. O O O/Egg Nog by Green Gerry

MP3: Green Gerry - L O O O N (Demo) So glad to hear some more of Green Gerry's "four loko folk" since the excellent Creed cover sampler from Olde English Spelling Bee earlier this month. There's a new collection of songs at his bandcamp in the lead up to the 7" he's got coming out in the label's new burst of weirdness and its part strum and part drone, creaky with samples and post-sunset ambience. It's real syrupy; "L O O O N" is porch-based and [...]
I found Green Gerry through Yr So Square, who I believe I found because he/she left a comment here. So thanks and thanks. But on to Green Gerry. GG is another reason that Bandcamp is my favorite innovation for bands/fans since twitter. He's giving the whole album away for whatever you want to give in [...]

So I put together a little list, and I'm exhausted. Why did I do this to myself? I get caught up in these lists and a ton of artists come to mind, each of them so deserving of their own place immortalized in the archives of friends' but I could only give them a few lines each. Instead of putting together a year-end 'best of' list, not necessarily albums, not necessarily current artists- simply artists that I discovered this year, in 2010. These artists made an impact on me in some way, whether it was just one of [...]

20. LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening I have mixed feelings about this album. Is it really really good or really really really good? Whichever it is, James Murphy has done it yet again – got me dancing like an idiot. -------------------- 19. Green Gerry - Odd Tymes Odd Tymes is beautifully odd to be sure. In terms of bedroom folk/pop drenched in soggy ambience, I've never [...]
Green Gerry sent over a new video for the track "I Feel Old". Just watch the synchronized bikes collide into eachother perfectly blending to form shapes. It's really mesmerizing. If you haven't gotten Odd Tymes yet, you have to. Do it right here. I am getting old - Green Gerry - Odd Tymes from Green Gerry on Vimeo . Green Gerry- I Am Getting Old
"Everything in the air/Wasn't ever meant to be up there" It's been a while since we've posted a video around these parts (3 weeks?), and this lovely new clip from Green Gerry deserves some attention. We featured this guy back in July, and he's since been popping up on blogs left and right . Stitching together a dizzying motorcycle display with lots of handclaps, this kaleidoscopic footage provides the perfect backdrop for Gerry's faded space-folk. Truly wonderful stuff.

Headunderwater was on the ball this week with his epic find called Green Gerry . I've been checking out his bandcamp and it reminds me of pieces of Neutral Milk Hotel's Hypnotic Sounds, but then just these soft and sweeping vocals, with traces of Kurt Vile. His album is called Odd Tymes and it's pretty fucking fantiastic. It takes a sombre note at times, with his own brand of freak-folk and ambient noise. Makes me want to watch natural disasters unravel outside my window. Green Gerry- [...]
Green Gerry - Song Fur Thunderstorms An album that was recorded via Garageband, but do not let that fool you at all. His album is full of beautiful downer-esque indie folk and experimental tunes that tend to lean it's self to the "more introspective side of summer. Not all of the songz are this slow, but this track seemed to grab a hold of me a little more today. I also highly suggest you listen to 'Cozy Space Mugz' . It's the song that attracted me to check out more of his music. I [...]

green gerry cozy space mugz sometimes LA, sometimes athens, GA artist green gerry makes some crazy, psychadelic tropical folk drone (that is literally the best way to describe this music) that is very reminiscent of atlas sound's debut and other bedroom lo-fi projects. with a slew of ridiculously titled tracks ( linked sausage is delicious probably being the silliest of them all), this album can be surprisingly dark, moody and twisted at one minute and then light and breezy the next (though always creative). with [...]
