OOOOH OOOOH OOOOOOOOOOOOOH! I have waited for the release of this album longer than almost any other! I have to thank Gregory and the Hawk a million times over, for the discovery of their myspace page (along with bands like The Age of Rockets and Jenny Owen Youngs), was the start of my music dependency, and along with that, the start of my exponentially increasing musical library. Fat Cat Records found Gregory and the Hawk by accident. They were having some pints at Southpaw in Brooklyn when the band came on stage and Meredith Godreau began to sing, instantly stunning everyone in the room. She was in the studio a month later beginning work on her FatCat debut. Today that debut is unveiled as Moenie & Kitchi . In the entire 4 year run of Songs:Illinois I can count on one hand the number of times I found a song on another blog ( here or here ) and re-posted it here. But with the new song from Gregory And The Hawk I couldn't resist. Musically "Grey Weather" sounds a bit like the song title.
