I've been hobbling around on a bum ankle for the last week and a half. In my desperate attempt to have the Wii Fit say more flattering things about me, I may have overdone it a tad. That made the Mod Club, not my favorite venue at the best of times, an even less appealing thought last night. I soldiered on though to catch Guelph's Gregory Pepper & His Problems open for Islands. I'm glad I
Guelph's Gregory Pepper & His Problems have been tapped by Islands to open their July tour, which includes stops in Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City. Last year I reviewed Pepper's quirky indie pop record With Trumpets Flaring. Check out that review here. His music seems like a pretty good foil to the Islands spacey electronics. Up today is another micro-opus from the eccentrically cinematic Gregory Pepper, and his current musical project Gregory Pepper and His Problems. Knives and Guns can be found on the Guelph, Ontario native's most recent release "With Trumpets Flaring", an LP released last summer with the help of Connecticut-based Fake Four Inc. Like many of Pepper's musical [...]

Filed under: News , Canada The voice of Canadian music fans was heard loud and clear on Wednesday as CBC Radio 3 awarded top honours to artists such as Said the Whale , Joel Plaskett and Sloan , as part of the station's annual listener-voted Bucky Awards. Vancouver's Dan Mangan was the clear front-runner in the radio soirée hosted by CBC Radio 3 host Grant Lawrence. Cleaning up with nods for Best Vocals and Best Song for his infectious [...]

Today's song is coming in from the Guelph-based musician/visual artist Gregory Pepper, and his musical project "Gregory Pepper and his Problems". 7ths and 3rds can be found on Pepper's 3rd album "With Trumpets Flaring", released in June of this year via the Canadian independent label Fake Four Inc. This relationship marks a milestone for Pepper, as his first two albums were self-released over the internet; I imagine the title of the album is cheekily referencing this label signing. For more from Gregory Pepper, his problems, and the new album, check out his MySpace here . [...]
