So I'm super tempted to say that these two compilation discs changed my life (which you'll see they kind of did), but I'd be lying to say I discovered most of the artists featured with the album. Actually, most of the artists are among my favorites like Conor Oberst, Grizzly Bear, The National and especially Bon Iver and Iron & Wine. . But here , the artists I fell in love with in the past show new perspectives or takes on other songs I either had no knowledge [...]

There's a distinct difference between 'best albums of the year' and 'favorite albums of the year.' Who am I to say what is the 'best' album? What makes an album better than the other? You've probably already figured out that I'm trying to say that music taste is subjective. The past 12 months have probably been one of the better years in music in a while. There were albums that defined genres (Merriweather Post Pavilion), albums that reinvented the bands sound (The Hazards of Love), albums that majorly disappointed (Mama, I'm Swollen), and albums that became a sign of what's [...]

The presence of extra structure relates these types of groups with other mathematical disciplines and means that more tools are available in their study. Topological groups form a natural domain for abstract harmonic analysis, whereas Lie groups (frequently realized as transformation groups) are the mainstays of differential geometry and unitary representation theory. Certain classification questions that cannot be solved in general can be approached and resolved for special subclasses of groups. Thus, compact connected Lie groups have been completely classified. - Group theory . " The Road Of Golden Dust [...]

Check out two really, really nice tracks from the wonderful Ms. Feist. The two tracks are from a new compilation album, "Dark Was The Night," put together to raise awareness about AIDS. If you think you can handle suffering a minor seizure from its sheer indieness, you can peep the album's tracklist below (we will fo sho be blogging about the album in the near future!!). Anyway, Feist appears twice on the album, once with Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie on Train Song , and the second, Service Bel l, with Grizzly Bear. They are both [...]

Feist recently lent her voice for Dark Was The Night , a great cause raising awareness and money for HIV/Aids. She appeared on two of the 31 songs that span the 2 discs that make up the compilation. The first song Feist appears in, "Train Song" features vocals from Death Cab For Cutie/Postal Service vocalist Ben Gibbard. You know how I love boy-girl songs, and I can't picture a more perfect vocal coupling than Feist and Ben Gibbard. Well maybe Gibbard's real-life fiance Zooey Deschanel - but I'll leave my dreams for the [...]
