A new track from Grizzly Bears ' Daniel Rossen has hit the web called "Silent Song". The track is titled silent song and can be enjoyed below. It's set to feature on his upcoming EP, Silent Hour/Golden Mile, which has been penned for release on the 19th of March in the UK (20th of March in the US) via Warp .

Grizzly Bear's Daniel Rossen has a solo EP coming out on Warp in March called Silent Hour/Golden Mile. 'Silent Single' is the first single from the EP, a gently rolling arrangement set to Rossen's distinctive vocal and harmonies. Last week, the more atmospheric piano number 'Saint Nothing' was revealed from the release. Tracklisting 1. Up On High 2. Silent Song 3. Return To Form 4. Saint Nothing 5. Golden Mile

Daniel Rossen has proven to be the most prolific member of Grizzly Bear, splitting his time between that band and Department of Eagles -- and now, solo pursuits. On March 20th, Warp Records will release Rossen's brand new, debut solo EP, Silent Hour/Golden Mile . Hear a song from the 5-track collection below entitled "Silent Song." It starts off sounding somewhat like a lost Fleetwood Mac song, but as the chord progression begins to change up unexpectedly, we're met with Rossen's signature tonal shifts; it plays like a rustic, chamber pop folk song, [...]

While Grizzly Bear is readying to release a new album sometime this year, following up their masterpiece, Veckatimest, a number of band members have been working on solo projects on the side. I personally couldn't get enough of the gorgeous synth tracks laid down by Chris Taylor under the moniker CANT . Now his band-mate Daniel Rossen has released two tracks from his forthcoming solo EP, Silent Hour / Golden Mile , slated for release March 20th. The singer/songwriter pairs his emotive vocals with orchestral harmonies on "Saint Nothing," while [...]

Those lamenting the loss of J Tillman's presence in Fleet Foxes now have reason to rejoice. Sub Pop will release Father John Misty 's Fear Fun on May first. Father John Misty is Tillman's new moniker. Feel free to participate in a legal music download below. Ah yes, another awesome new tune from Grizzly Bear's Daniel Rossen . This one is called Silent Song - you'll find it on Rossen's new EP, Silent Hour/Golden [...]

While Grizzy Bear may be prepping for a new album later this year, members of the band have been doing a lot in the mean time. Ed Droste was recently married, Chris Taylor released his first studio album as CANT last fall, and now Daniel Rossen is set to release his own solo studio effort. We heard Rossen's first song " Saint Nothing ," off the upcoming Silent Hour/Golden Mile EP a few weeks back, but "Silent Song" is more assuredly worth your time. Listen below.

If you're anything like us, you're about ready for new Grizzly Bear material. Their last outing, Veckatimest , may have aged like the finest of wines, but we are still thrilled to hear Daniel Rossen's stunning voice in a new, Grizzly Bear -esque setting. The new "Silent Song," and last week's "Saint Nothing," are not from his band's next album (which is due out sometime in 2012), but from his forthcoming solo EP, Silent Hour / Golden Mile , which is slated for a March 20th release. You can [...]
This edition compiles January and the majority of December. Despite including material featured at the tail end of 2011, every track on here apart from "Stuck Together" and "(I'm In) A Chorus Line" is from a 2012 release. So here's our first peek at music in the new year, even if it's just the tip
Daniel Rossen, the man behind many of Grizzly Bear and Department Of Eagles ' finest moments, and the child prodigy behind this insanely delightful Elvis impression , is releasing his proper solo debut this spring. (For this post's intents and purposes we are side-stepping his covers of Judee Sill , and of JoJo , though you really should get on that cover of JoJo.) Dan's offering an EP via Warp Records, the same label that releases his Grizzly Bear songs, with the name Silent Hour/Golden Mile . We've posted its " Saint Nothing ," and [...]

Following on from the sparse and sombre 'Saint Nothing' , here's another new song from the latest Grizzly Bear to rock a side-project . Both tracks will feature on his Warp Records EP, Silent Hour/Golden Mile , out March 20th in America and March 19th in the UK. No offense to Chris Taylor , but I think Daniel Rossen is better. Grizzly fight! 'Silent Song' -James [...]

Tweet January has come and gone. In some parts of the world Lana Del Rey 's "Born To Die" has already been released to mixed reviews, nowhere near making as big a splash as was anticipated by some. I've given it a listen, it's fine, but, as I expected, nothing remarkable. In not-LDR-related news, there have been plenty of good releases so far in this past month, with Cloud Nothings [...]

Space within a song can be an artists' strongest tool. In the case of "Saint Nothing" by Grizzly Bear member, Daniel Rossen, space is no doubt a crucial element in creating the holy atmosphere that rides atop the floating piano progression. More so than spacing between instruments, Daniel Rossen is able to somehow sonically recreate a physical space through the detail of each instrument. Listen to the slow decaying reverb of each piano chord as it drifts around the open room. Pay attention to warm wind undertones that act more so as a smoky foundation than any sort of distinct [...]

Looking over the list of albums slated for release in the new few months, it's hard not to get overly giddy - 2012 is going to be a great year for music. Several bands that made names for themselves with wildly inventive and successful debuts are putting forth their sophomore efforts this year. The all-important follow-up album can be tricky, though, especially when an artist has made such a unique statement with their debut - I'm definitely eager to hear how these musicians have adapted their sound. Cloud Nothings' (@cloudnothings) [...]

With both Grizzly Bear and the Department of Eagles, Daniel Rossen's vocals always existed as a complimentary ingredient-albeit, a textured and complex one-in a rich sonic tapestry. In Ear Park was probably the album that most allowed Rossen's voice to rise above the mix, but on "Saint Nothing," we're given a peak at something that feels utterly naked and exposed. The track consists of a piano riff and a touch of horns, but you get the feeling that, in this case, the instruments are merely stage-setters, outlining a canvas for Rossen to fill in with his darkly romantic [...]
