Just like Wyclef Jean's classic song about being "gone til November," Grizzly Bear have announced that their forthcoming ATP festival has been moved to, ahem, November. The statement from ATP reads as follows: "The main reason for this is that two of the anticipated headliners pulled out - making this day's event unviable at this current stage, and rather than putting on a day that isn't worthy of our headliners and of the standard of ATP events, ATP and Grizzly Bear have decided that rather than cancelling, their show will [...]

Grizzly Bear will spend most of the summer on the road in support of last year's CoS Top Star-earning Shields . They've already confirmed appearances at Coachella , Bonnaroo , and Governors Ball , as well as a June leg alongside The xx , and now they've scheduled more headlining shows for August. It's not all good news though; the band has been forced to postpone their upcoming ATP Festival , originally set for May 5th, until November 2nd. According to a statement released by the festival, [...]

It's not long at all until ATP's I'll Be Your Mirror descends upon London's Alexandra Palace once more, but now, it's looking as though things aren't going to happen as originally planned. Whilst New York's most iconic three-piece Yeah Yeah Yeahs are due to headline the first day of proceedings on 4th May, Grizzly Bear were scheduled to perform the following day. However, now, according to a statement from ATP themselves , the 5th May event has been postponed until November, after two headliners pulled out of the event. [...]

Set times for 20132s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival have been announced, and if you're like us at BBLA HQ, you're already mapping out a game plan for whom you want to see. Grizzly Bear House of Blues April 9, 2013 The best move that Grizzly Bear made Tuesday night was possibly their only move. What I imagined to be electric-light squids danced high and low in time... Continue reading "Last Night: Grizzly Bear at House of Blues" >

Hi, nice to meet you. You mind giving me some air? Wow, Stubb's was it packed for Grizzly Bear . So packed that the photo pit was moved in to allow for more people space because the show was oversold. I didn't know that sardines had date nights. Was it worth it the uncomfortably close neighbors? A couple quick notes on the show including my love for Owen Pallett and of course the human monopod show pics... Owen Pallett [...]

Thoughts from Friday night at Middle of the Map : - Many more small-scale shows, fewer of the blow-out parties of last year. Even Iceage and Jeff the Brotherhood back-to-back at the Riot Room wasn't nearly as crazy as Fucked Up / Coalesce the year before. - Speaking of Iceage: holy shit. A total clusterfuck mess. Far more entertaining than their show at the Jackpot, though. Honestly, they could've played "Ecstacy" over and over for the half hour they were on stage, and I would've been happy. - Not A [...]
Five short years ago, Grizzly Bear played before a transfixed and adoring audience of perhaps 100 people on the cramped stage of Club Dada. Touring to support their break-through album Yellow Hou... Continue reading "Grizzly Bear at the Palladium, 4/6/13: Review" >
Bird Dog is Patrick Rees ' first E.P. as a solo artist and boy has he started in style. The tracks on the e.p. are made up of sketches of old demos mostly written while traveling around South-East Asia in 2011 on a $20 dollar guitar that doubled as an umbrella in tropical storms. Returning to England at the beginning of 2012 he started to play around with the demos, making all the recordings himself on his laptop adding harmonies or extra parts without worrying about how he might perform them live. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry after I witnessed a professional music presenter lament the diminishing "culture of supporting live music" earlier this week. My friend was addressing an audience of less than two dozen people as he introduced a five-piece band. An hour later I began jostling for position at several crowded nightclubs in Westport. Elsewhere in Kansas City that evening, Icelandic band Sigur Rós performed to a reported 4,500 fans at Starlight Theatre while the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, an ensemble that regular attracts 1,000 people at its concerts, appeared at Helzberg Hall. [...]
