And here comes another (likely brief) flood! Since it's been a while, I've got a pretty enormous round-up of new tracks and remixes to post. Instead of spreading it out, I thought I'd just get it all out at once! It's a mix of recent classics, fresh remixes and stuff I've just randomly discovered. There's a lot to get through, so I won't give a full rundown of all the tracks like usual. The standouts of the mixes are the new Basement Jaxx remix of Adele and Bimbo Jones' rework of Alphabeat's latest, along with LA Riots' club remix of [...]

Finals are approaching worryingly near. Which means more concentration on my academic career. It won't be over until mid-June, and I'd better get prepared from now, so I'm afraid time between posts will grow longer than usual. I'll still drop in from time to time to phone in a cover post or two, though. Oh who am I kidding, covers are this blog's specialty. You guys made that clear. So here are 5 more great ones to add to your collection. Enjoy! Yael Naim - Bachelorette (Bjork) Robyn [...]

Been fair lazy lately, being the reason for the absence of two Two Track Tuesdays. To make up for it here is a little mix of some of the music i love lately, and a little trade hooks best-of. mp3: Tellier, Oizo & SebastiAn - Plug It mp3: Digitalism vs. Boys Noize - Zdarlight & Down mp3: The Presets - Down Down Down (Midnight Juggernauts Remix) mp3: Sebastien Tellier - DIVINE (Midnight Juggernauts Remix) mp3: [...]

Contrary to the weather lately in Van, summer is just around the corner. The recent trend of patio sippers are swaying towards the Cuban classic Mojito. Although many variations of fruit have been added to this classic, the traditional is still going strong. Try Havana patio on Commercial Drive on a beautiful sunny day to enjoy yours... it also comes in pitcher form at Havana's for those lazy Sunday afternoons ;) A mojito is traditionally made of five ingredients: rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime, carbonated water and [...]
This dropped into the inbox recently from the good folks at Botchit & Scarper. 'The Girls Say' was a summery cut from last years 'Soundboy Rock' long player from Groove Armada and Atomic Hooligan have given the track a very nice vibe. mp3: groove armada - the girls say (atomic hooligan remix). Groove Armada might have just out-Radioheaded Radiohead. In this mondo-cool era of scorning the big record label, these dance daddies have signed up with Bacardi for a four-track EP and a deal that allows the company to use the duo's songs for promo shindigs. Bacardi? All I gotta say is that when you got rum rompers funding your ass, it's no wonder you'd only record a four-track EP. Smashin', y'all. To read more, click here . Sometimes, when my imagination has nothing better to consider, I envision that my life has an ongoing soundtrack playing in the background. Walking through campus is a lot less monotonous when your thoughts come complete with a well-selected accompaniment! Here are a few chilled out tracks that could easily fit into the soundtrack of anyone's life. Perhaps because it was used so well in Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited , "Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)" by Peter Sarstedt could easily play during a particularly contemplative moment. Moloko's "Absent Minded Friends" seems made to complement a classy party [...]

I must live in my lantern. Trimming subliminal flicker. Virginal to the bellows of experience. Colored glass. - Mina Loy , Lunar Baedecker . Klute - Phone Call (Phone call 12″ / 2000) [...]

Above pic via Zara This turned out to be one of my favorite mixtapes that we've done so far, there's some pretty great choices in this bunch. As the title of the post says this month's mixtape is all about (in Karim's words) "chilling, relaxing, and chillaxing." I'd throw another word in here but Nghia would yell at me. [MP3]: Sigur Ros "Staralfur" [James] [...]

Part two of my countdown of the best singles released in 2007. Some truly great tracks were released in the past year, which of course aren't all covered by my somewhat arbitrary lists. Feel free to dispute inclusions and suggest additions. The rule of no repeat artists means that noteworthy additional singles are listed under the same position. 1. Mark Ronson featuring Amy Winehouse, "Valerie" [ zShare ] (from the album Version ) Also on the list: Mark Ronson featuring Daniel Merriweather, [...]

1. Róisín Murphy, Overpowered After just two months of listening, this album from former Moloko singer Róisín Murphy is already among my favorite pop albums of all time. Composed of equal portions ace pop songs, killer club tracks and emotional midtempo jams, Overpowered is a bona-fide masterpiece extremely worthy of the heaps of critical acclaim it has attained. Featured track (and forthcoming third single) "You Know Me Better" is hands down my favorite track released this past year. Featured: Roisin Murphy, "You Know Me Better" [ zShare [...]

I Think We're Gonna Make It Feeder - "Buck Rogers" MP3 Horrid lyrics don't ruin the fun. This is pop music you will bounce your head to. Leona Lewis - "Bleeding Love" MP3 [...]
I've been meaning to put together a DJ mix for this summer. Something capturing the vibe of the patio dancefloor, the dudes on the wall looking for a head-nodder and the people of all flavors looking for a collective groove. Let me tide you over with a couple songs that would make the mix, and naturally all deserve a post of their own. Enjoy some Tru Thoughts treats with Freddie Cruger (aka. Red Astaire ) and Flevans. Then bring it up a notch for Groove Armada's killer single. Freddie Cruger - Pushing On (feat. Linn) [...]
The new Groove Armada album, Soundboy Rock, is a perfectly enjoyable little dance record, even offering a few stylistic surprises on occasion. But the tracks I was most drawn to were this set of emotional pieces, which makes me a...

I posted up the last single on Lo Experimental Beats (LoEB) a while back, but this new one's even better. A lush space disco jam with sci-fi sounds and occasional opiate vocals. It's been killing me all day what this reminds me of, but it's just twigged that it's a slower version of the Klaxons remix by Simian Mobile Disco. I don't know much about Black Mustang, but Kerrier District is of course
