After taking its sweet time last year, summer has struck back with a vengeance. At least here in the midwest, 90+ degree temperatures and clear, sunny skies are quickly becoming the norm. Of course, with the changing of the seasons not only comes trips to the beach and increased slushie sales but exuberant, feel-good summer jams. As is our tradition here at Music For Ants, we're providing a mix that will hopefully soundtrack some of your 2012 summer memories. Download below or take a listen at Spotify . Enjoy! Even though I'm adjusting to my new schedule at my new job and that's making it hard to do my other normal postings, I have enough experience making these podcasts that I can do them in one sitting if I put my mind to it. I should have a new laptop sometime this summer and I think that's going to mean a renaissance for this blog. I will have email submissions, my external hard drive, and my recording location all in one place. It's going to be killer. So. I made you a countdown. Hope you [...]

Photo Credit: Andrew Reynolds, OnlineAthens Reptar came back to Milwaukee on May 13, as a supporting act for Grouplove. Andrew McFarland (Drums), Ryan Engelberger (Bass/Keys), and newly-added member Jace Bartet (Guitar) were kind enough to take some time (after melting the faces of some 'tweens) and sit down with FPT's own Kellen Nordstrom, for a laid-back conversation chock full of nerdery and laughter. Kellen: Congrats on Body Faucet, guys, it's an amazing album. [...]
Yes it's true. I don't always knock countdowns out in one sitting. Usually it's more like two. Sometimes three sittings. This time it was three, but the third very nearly didn't happen at all! Thank goodness I have a routine where I look at the blogs before I go to bed (is that what people will do instead of "reading the paper" in 20 years? Is it actually what people mostly do now?) and that jarred the idea that I publish on Sunday mornings! But here it is in all it's glory. 103. Countdown [...]

Whoa. So Blogger's all weird now. I know that probably most of my listeners don't blog themselves (you should though!), but I guess they've changed the setup of what it looks like when I write a blog post. Things are in different places. It's like someone cleaned my house and moved all my stuff around. Eh, I'm sure I'll get used to it. So, we're in the 2nd 100 episodes now, huh? Pretty sweet. :) Enjoy this week's show! Countdown #101 ***Featuring*** The Black Keys Foo Fighters fun. [...]

The sweltering heat festival-goers have come to know and loathe descended on Part II of Coachella's doubleheader in the desert last weekend. But it didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of L.A.'s Grouplove (top photo). Photographer Debi Del Grande captured some of Friday's performers in this gallery.

I'll be heading to Bonnaroo for the first time this year, and in preparation I'm checking out some of the bands on the line-up that I haven't heard. My favorite so far is L.A. indie pop band, Grouplove . Somehow despite being in an iPod commercial last year, I missed out on the incredibly effervescent "Tongue Tied" from their debut album, Never Trust A Happy Song . With a killer bassline catchy-as-hell chorus, it's an exhilarating, summery pop anthem that should be a blast to sing a long to live. [...]
