What is that? Is it a play on the name of that mountain range in Switzerland? Is it literally something to do with the anatomy of Swiss people? Is it a new euphemism from those pesky teenagers that we're no longer privy to? Are they linking that most sensuous, kissable part of every human being and linking with it that most neutral of European countries? It makes no sense to us. Are we missing the joke here? It's hard not to consider their choice of band name, particularly when it sounds so, well, downright silly. We would love to state [...]
Swiss Lips are a little electro/indie-pop crew coming out of Manchester, England with three songs currently to their name. The attraction here is the fact that all three songs are gold, with "Grow" being the winner in my book. Looking forward to what these guys bring to the table down the line; the world needs more of this. Get involved and check out their Soundcloud page to listen to their other tracks. Humour over email... It's always difficult to pull off, as our slightly confusing exhanges with From The Sticks will testify to. Hailing from the Fens, they opened with a line about having "only just got electricity" which worked well enough, it was the next one regarding the fact that they "made some instruments out of stuff lying around the house" that led to aformentioned confusion... Upon listening to their music, it's pretty evident that they're not playing graters and elastic bands but have instead done a fine job of making innately catchy music (with a DIY feel) using [...]

In order to test the skills and abilities of prospective employees in an effective way, a number of employers across the globe are using graduate aptitude tests and job aptitude tests. With the ever-increasing competition in diverse sectors, the graduate aptitude tests have become almost a necessity in most of the selection processes. The results of these tests are being used by employers to assess the skills and the learning potential of a candidate. This test plays a major role in evaluating the suitability of a particular candidate in terms of his or her capability to deal [...]

CDSC gifted me up with one of their lines @ TYE... Once my f'n MMAR paperwork goes through, it will be mine! PS, I'll gladly trade it for a pure afghani.
Things happen quickly. Good times are had. New friends are made. Fresh experiences teach us about ourselves and the world. There's always that one person who wants to drag you out of the present and into the past. Don't bother. It's not worth the effort. Just keep rolling. But remind yourself to take a moment [...]

At the end of September 2010 I introduced you to Headless Horseman , a duo from New York who had just released a five-song EP called...."5songs" that was packed with experimental Lo-Fi oddities and layered with unusual vocal hooks and misplaced harmonies. It was this combination of differe nces that brought everything together so well and had me listening to the EP for days and days on end, and now they've released another couple of songs that were supposed to be part of a 73 release in January on TwoSyllable but that never happened, and now they're supposed to be [...]

mpfree // La Sera - Devil's Hearts Grow Gold A Vivian Girls side-project spills the words "side-project" into the gutter and exposes itself as something a little more serious and a little less impermanent. A beautiful, sedated showering of soft, churned chords give La Sera's latest effort a pretty yet slightly twisted disposition. It's not simple twee-by-numbers. It's got the bratty edge of the Vivian Girls mixed in for good measure too. La Sera - Devils [...]

Here is another installment of what to expect on the Best of 2010 list. This time being "Overall". I don't just focus on Canadian music, I do check out stuff from the USA and the UK. Overall being albums outside of Canada that was released in 2010. As before in the " Canadian albums of 2010 " no albums that was released in late 2009. There will be some Canadian albums that made a splash outside of Canada crossing over into this list. I really need your help/input on which albums from the USA, [...]

"For us to be 'that band' that can headline festivals would be amazing..." - Matt Bigland In the past month or so it's been pretty difficult to pick a music magazine without seeing the words Dinosaur Pile-Up plastered all over it. Bird & Planes , the first single to be taken from the Leeds three-piece, recently released debut record, Growing Pains , quickly hit the heady heights of Radio One's daytime playlist and it wasn't long before every other publication was heralding the [...]
When I say that I've been listening to this all week it's no word of a lie. Fareed sent me their stuff last week just as I was going to bed and so before getting there I stopped and gave it a listen, and it turned out to be another of those bands that grab you the instant you hear them. Upon first listen, I knew that I liked it, I just wasn't sure exactly what IT was. It's all sorts of bits and bobs, tweaks and twirls, highs and lows, all wrapped around (upon first listen) and [...]

Great news today from one of our favorite musicians in the biz. John Vanderslice dropped a free EP on all of us today and you can download the whole thing right now. JV is of course one of the nicest dudes in indie rock, and continues to be one of the best songwriters as well. The new EP is titled Green Grow The Rushes and features: Ian Bjornstad, Carla Kihlstedt, Daniel Hart (St. Vincent), Matthias Bossi, George Ban-Weiss, and Ben Goldberg (who plays all the clarinets on "Penthouse Window"). Jim Eno from Spoon [...]

So rock died out and then came pop and now we're living in the world of... hip hop? Something like that. Anyway, here are some reader submissions of their drugs. Apparently people are proud enough of their drug use to show it off to the world. It must still hold true that some music fans like to experiment with drugs while using music as entertainment. Note the purple drank. Looks a bit pinkish to us, but you know, sometimes people have to improvise with their ingredients just like in that show Top Chef on Bravo. [...]
