Maybe it's just the current state of indie commercialism but I keep hearing tracks that seem ready made for a slew of upbeat ad campaigns, and the new one from Guards , seems to fit the bill. I'm thinking a quirky car commercial, where a slightly-hip family piles into their brightly painted economy car and drives around the country, montage-style. "Ready To Go" is off Guards' forthcoming debut album In Guards We Trust , which will be out February 5th via Black Bell Records . It's got one has a bit more of an anthemic feel than [...]

One of my most anticipated albums for a couple of years now has been Guards ' debut album. After their debut EP in 2010, which included a handful of absolutely ridiculous garage pop songs (three of which we put out on our very first 73 through Small Plates ), and countless unstoppable live shows (including a particularly unforgettable performance at our Hype Hotel showcase last SXSW), they skyrocketed to the top of my bands to watch list. And now the time has come for In Guards We Trust [...]

This is the second single from the forthcoming debut record from Guards, the NY trio lead by Richie Follin. It's a polished, indie-pop gem that journeys on the the lonely side into a all out anthemic chorus that will have you singing along as soon as the guitars start whining and the gang chorals shimmer. Look for the single to appear on their upcoming record In Guards We Trust come February 5th. GUARDS TOUR DATES January 23 Washington, DC 9:30 Club* January 24 Philadelphia, PA Union [...]
Guards have let fly the third single from In Guards We Trust , and it's a banger of the optimistic variety. Lot's of bells, melodic strings and the insistence that they are in fact, "up and ready to go" gives the track a level of readiness reminiscent of "Keep The Car Running." We're looking forward to their album, which is out February 5 on Black Bell Records. Read more articles like " New: Guards - "Ready To Go" " on Pretty Much Amazing . Tags: Guards

Guards returns today with a new song called "Ready To Go," which will be out on their upcoming record In Guards We Trust on February 5th. If you didn't know, lead singer Richie Follin is the brother of Cults singer Madeline, but we'll leave the background info at that. While the brother and sister are both in the music industry, Guards is more indie/pop and might even be a bit more accessible to the masses. Stream the new track below. Fresh? [...]

New York indie rock band Guards nail it on their newest song "Ready To Go". With chiming church bells, winding guitars and a huge, anthemic chorus, what more could you possibly ask for? While the previous singles "Coming True" and "Silver Lining" (all off their forthcoming debut LP In Guards We Trust) were catchy enough, this one might just be the absolute standout. Hit play and lose yourself in its euphoric vibes. In Guards We Trust comes out February 5th via Black Bell [...]

Guards frontman Richie Follin is brother to Cults ' lead singer Madeline (he's probably so sick of people pointing that out by now), but the siblings are both carving out their own lane. While Cults feels softer, more vintage, and a little distant, Guards create something a little more fist pump-worthy. It's indie pop but with a rock edge—at points in "Ready To Go" you could almost hear an epic guitar solo about to break, and it's this looming possibility that makes Guards' sound stand out from a lot of the non-threatening indie pop of the moment. [...]
One of our favorite new bands, Guards, premiered its ultra-catchy single "Ready To Go" yesterday on Pitchfork. It’s the second single from the band’s forthcoming album, In Guards We Trust, out February 5th on Black Bell Records. Listen to it in the player below - you'll love having this one stuck in your head. Guards ... Continue reading

Crooning and chanting, the new song from Guards is high-reaching and emotional. Clashing drums pulse ideally to the bells and chimes in the chorus - blissful harmony. "Ready To Go" could be seen on those over-produced, motivational videos aiming to have people strive in life. It's practically the indie version of "Heroes" , almost echoing in musical nature with high-arching guitars and narrative lyrics. Guards have a new album coming out on February 5th, titled In Guards We [...]

Today's music was crafted by the elves. Enjoy. : Generationals - Spinoza : If I made a quick list of the "best news" that this week has delivered, Generationals announcing a new album would be somewhere near the top. They're such a fantastic pop act, which you will see for yourself via this hooky gem. Heza is due on April 2 through the always lovely Polyvinyl Records . : Jens Lekman - Olivia And Maddy : Like all things from Jens , this is an absolute charmer. Yes, that means [...]
Dang! Yet another great preview track from the upcoming In Guards We Trust album!

Guards already released two great cuts ( "Coming True" & "Silver Lining" ) from their debut album In Guards We Trust . They have another one for us: "Ready To Go." Just like the previous two songs, "Ready To Go" succumbs to a big chorus that lifts the band up to the clouds. Guards know a thing or two about writing sweeping chorus', that's for sure. In Guards We Trust comes out February 5 via Black Bell Records . Pre-order options are available here .

New York new waver duo Guards feature Richie Follin, brother of Cults singer Madeline, and they'll release their debut album In Guards We Trust next month. We've already heard the early tracks " Silver Lining " and " Coming True ," and now we've got a warmly sweeping indie pop tune called "Ready To Go." As with Richie's sister's band, it somehow sounds big and small at the same damn time. Listen below. Read More...

It's hard to make much of teaser trailers for albums, but this one for Guards' debut album seems to serve its purpose. The trailer for In Guards We Trust features a bit of a new song, "Nightmare," and stylishly composed shots of attractive people riding around on boats off a rocky coast, fishtailing race cars and headlights half illuminating the twisty road ahead. Somehow it makes me very excited for the album, which is out February 5. Read more articles like " Guards preview new song "Nightmare" [...]
