On Mouseman Cloud , his fifth solo album in the past two years, Pollard's craft runs a bit stale, impressing more with quantity of ideas than actual substance. (Brownie points for one of the more original album titles I've heard lately). The new song falls right in line with the band's previous work, of which there is plenty to draw from, utilizing pop and sonic rock to create a likable and promising first single. The band put out a new album for the first time in nearly a decade last summer and they already have a new album called Class Clown Spots A UFO coming out in June. "Keep It in Motion" is our first taste of Class Clown Spots a UFO, the second new Guided by Voices record of 2012. And while this album has been billed as the more rocking and more modern companion to the mostly lo-fi, Let's Go Eat the Factory, it still has that vintage GBV feel.
