Austin Donohue and Shy Kedmi have released an album of subtly wondrous beauty that recalls the lighter, wistful side of Thom Yorke and Jonsi.

Bibio: Silver Wilkinson - Today marks the release of Bibio’s seventh studio album, Silver Wilkinson , and damn, you need to pick this one up. The first three tracks are exactly what I would expect from Bibio -that melancholy sound that feels as far away as your childhood, yet still retains vibrant quality of a new experience-an aesthetic shaped from reverberating guitars played through clean amplifiers, swashing pads, spectral vocals and tasteful audio samples like the vinyl static on ‘The First Daffodils’. Yes, Bibio’s simplistic tendencies produce a truly sublime quality to the [...]
Head on over to your local Guitar Center and grab whatever you can in your price range! You'll be answering calls from Kate Upton and Emma Stone in no time! Or at least that's how I'm interpreting this study. So this dude in France basically walked around and asked girls for their numbers while holding ... Scott Paterson, co-vocalist and guitarist of Sons And Daughters, reminisces about his time in the Scottish, spectacular, and, sadly, now-defunct band.

If you haven't listened to Gary Clark Jr. yet, now is the perfect time to start. The Texas blues juggernaut has released the official video for his powerful cut " Numb" off his debut album Blak and Bl u. The video is a perfect storm of raw blues energy that hits you in the gut like a ton of bricks. The black and white video starts with Gary regretfully waking up next to his girl but they seem to be in a bit of a rut, arguing about [...]

Coyote Kisses were right there when I got into the EDM, bass-driven scene just a few years back. They've always been there when my electro dance appeal was waning, bringing that HARD punch I needed. However, comparing their latest EP, Thundercolor, I can tell the chomp has been lost in this Coyote Kisses' four-parter. I didn't appreciate Thundercolor the first time through simply because I didn't expect it. Now that I've listened to it a few times though, it's clear that CK still has that electro guitar melody signed in, but [...]

Eye Emma Jedi 's "Places" is the sort of guitar-driven, adrenaline-pumping indie rock we don't nearly get enough of these days. Hailing from Norway, these Scandinavian chaps spent 100 days outside the village of Marbella on the Southern coast of Spain recording their debut album. "Places" is our first taste of said LP and reminds us of Fang Island in all the right ways. Fun fact: Dan Croll used to play with these guys. So chew on that. Stream the track below. First birthday parties, hey? Usually reserved for seedy uncles, blow-up castles, and mediocre cameos that somehow entertain the lucky babe to be. Do you remember anything from the space between popping out and entering into 13 years of education at age five? Nope? Glad I'm not the only one. Last weekend Sydney-based label Hand Games celebrated the big 365 in Melbourne, after parties in Sydney and Brisbane earlier this month. I was lucky enough to head down to The Liberty Social and catch a stellar line-up of acts that didn't include Fesbo the Clown, sadly. [...]
Blame bloody Sod's law, eh? No sooner have the mass media jubilantly declared the death of guitar music , than a whole sodding raft brimming with auspicious-sounding guitar bands washes up on the airwaves. Parquet Courts , and Kins and so on. And to such illustrious company we may as well add as yet inscrutable, self-acclaimed dream dark psychedelic hypnagogic hard pop ensemble Baywaves , for whoever's behind the project is sounding remarkably accomplished already. To The North/ Figures is a début single, and it's that former A-side aforesaid in the undertow of which we're [...]

Francis Hillman "Scrapper" Blackwell was an exceptional guitar player who's single-note picking style anticipated the electric blues of the '40s and '50s. He was a self-taught guitarist, building his first guitar out of cigar boxes , wood and wire. Known for being withdrawn and hard to work with, Blackwell established a rapport with pianist Leroy Carr , whom he met in Indianapolis in the mid-1920s, creating a productive working relationship. Carr convinced Blackwell to record with him for the Vocalion label in 1928; the result was " How Long, How Long Blues ", the biggest blues [...]

This is the perfect soundtrack to sense and experience the change from the winter to the summer time and it's a dance piece (or a folktronica concept album if you wish)! Like Joseba B. Lenoir (who was featured before and who recommended this to me), Joseba Irazoki is from the Basque Country (at least his writing is in Euskara). So the music you'll find on his bandcamp page contains sometimes lyrics which may sound unusual to your anglo-american trained ear (at least to mine). But there are q [ This is the summary, read the [...]
Brighton quartet Kins are of a rare breed; oddities of indie. Yes, it's guitar music which hinges on melodrama to make each individual vertebra tingle and quiver, and of course comparisons will be drawn between Thomas Savage's endearing falsetto delivery and that of Hayden Thorpe. They've even been about since 2010, thus before the purported demise of said guitar music . Though with the emergence of an eponymous EP only yesterday, they've managed to accentuate the intrinsic peculiarities to an extent which allows them to protrude forth from the ever widening mire of humdrum guitar aficionados [...]
