Chrystal has her first GWAR experience, meets Oderus, and gets fan reviews after the show. As I type this, my hair, hands, and face are stained red from a glorious night at GWAR! The Exit/In was a sold-out, hot, sweaty, bloody mess. Seeing a GWAR show has been on my "bucket list" since high school. Now, I'm addicted, and will attend every GWAR show that comes to my area. When I have kids, I'll tell them it's a "must-see." Yes, it seems shocking, but [...]
GWAR back with Metal Blade Record, new album in Aug Metal Blade Records and Slave Pit Inc. have joined forces again to announce the re-signing of GWAR . The new album " Lust in Space " is set for an August release via Metal Blade Records. Quoth Oderus, "We couldn't be more delighted to be back on Metal Blade. The alliance of metal's most prestigious label and metal's most incredible band shall form an UberKlaw of ten-fold devastation. When GWAR's new album, Lust in Space, [...]
Large scale theaters usually have their fair share of musical history; The Chicago Theatre, The Filmore, The Beacon…you could go on all night with historic venues that contain just as many legends as the bands who played in them. But when it comes to smaller, indie-oriented locales, you'd be hard pressed to find one that contains such a rich background, although they do exist. One such venue is Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, Florida. Nestled in the heart of downtown in Tampa's finer sister city, Janus Landing was fashioned out of the [...]
Gig Posters: The Art of Contemporary Music Promotion , a Concert Poster art show at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, opens with this Friday's Gallery Hop and goes on until May 16th. The exhibit is free if you go during the first Gallery Hop. Many of the artists' works are local or are somehow connected to the Louisville music scene ad have done posters for the community. One of my personal favorites, Ron Jansin (of MadPixel - above), will be presenting his work and will be available to [...]
It is no secret we love the band Lilys , so we generally sit up and take notice when we get an email from a band that leads off with something like "we love Lilys ." Which is basically what Richmond, VA-based shoegaze/psych-pop quintet Lubec did, and so here we are today to share with you their excellent de facto single "Gang Knife Battles." We like to feature new and upcoming bands at :: clicky clicky ::, but we think Lubec may be one of the newest, as it hasn't yet released anything. But [...]
FiL, post-GWAR How to tell if you're at a GWAR concert at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver : Despite a widely advertised smoking ban, a fug of pot smoke hangs over the audience, more pungent than you would find at any hippyfest. There are large demons onstage with instruments, musical and other. They play screamingly fast & loud thrash metal with a satirical (if juvenile) edge. [...]

Can't fit all that booty in these editorial jeans so I've whittled down the list to 25 favorites, organized by genre. Shake it! BLUES [...]
Going to Gwar is a lot like going to Rocky Horror. It's more spectacle than actual show and you know exactly what you're getting. You'll get a little wet and messy and largely it'll be the same show you remember with a few tweaks. Oddly enough, I had not been to either in maybe a decade and on a whim I've have managed to catch both of them in the past month. Rocky Horror was a little disappointing, to be honest. The crowd was way too overzealous, yelling different things over each other and coming in up to [...]

New Jersey Gets Bamboozled By Nostalgia
Saturday's "surprise guest" at the two-day parking-lot festival known as the Bamboozle was introduced with the three words "Don't," "Stop," and "Believin'," and from my vantage point in the crowd-which rendered the men muscling through four of Journey's hits onstage into something resembling very animated Berzerk robots-I thought that I was actually watching the San Francisco band collect a big, yet sorta-strange, paycheck. As it turned out, the band that I was singing along with was actually a really, really convincing tribute band . (Of course, some smart-asses out there will assert that [...]
CATTLE DECAPITATION debut "Grave" new video
San Diego's leading misanthropes CATTLE DECAPITATION, better known as a beastly death-grindcore band riding on their best album yet, just bestowed a new video on us for "Regret & the Grave." In their latest adventure, Cattle Decapitation tear it up in a roomful of meat hooks while imprisoned beings are led to their dismemberment, sort [...]

GWAR reveal tour dates with CATTLE DECAPITATION, PRIESTESS
It can't be easy to open for one of the most notorious live bands in the world and to put up with their bloodthirsty fanbase, but deathgrinders CATTLE DECAPITATION and retro-rockers PRIESTESS both think they're up for the task. GWAR is taking both bands out on their upcoming jaunt, where we're sure to see what [...]

More Bloodstock carnage: Battlelore and Gwar added to the bill
Yet more names have been added to the ever-growing line-up for Bloodstock Open Air 2009 . Not only have Finnish symphonic metallers, Battlelore , joined the bill, but Metal Hammer are reporting that everyone's favourite alien thrash-punk party monsters, Gwar , have been added as well. And they should know - frontman, Oderus Urungus (that's him with the granny) is one of their columnists. Now where did we leave those jizz-proof umbrella?
GWAR Live Footage and the death of John McCain
Oh fuck yes! For all of us who sadly missed GWAR's Electile Dysfunction Tour, the fine folks over at HardTimes.CA snagged a glorious medly of the scumdogs of the universe at their finest. See John McCain get his ass handed to him and much more below. And for even more GWAR goodness, check out yet another [...]
In case you were wondering what GWAR has been up to…
One of my biggest regrets of the last year is missing Metal Misha's greatest nemisises, GWAR when they came around New York. Luckily, the people over at Metal-Rules had a chance to interview Oderous and band manager Sleazy P. Martini at a recent stop and the resulting video is awesome. During the interview, Orderous does [...]
State of Metal: Virginia
If you believed everything you read, you could be forgiven for thinking that metal exists entirely in England, parts of California and all the Nordic countries. Anyone who subconsciously raises index and pinky upon hearing blast beats knows this isn't true, but there are still plenty of states, countries, commonwealths and shitholes that never get [...]
