featuring The Balconies, Ghostkeeper, Gypsophilia, Gemma Ray, Krupke and Boats So basically I'm an idiot. Even though I read and reread the CMF schedule over several times, I was still convinced that The Balconies and Ghostkeeper were going to be hitting the Criminal Records instore on THURSDAY, which meant that I would be unable to see them, but very much able to catch Dan Mangan , Aidan Knight and Hollerado at that very same store on the FRIDAY, which had me very excited. I even [...]

This is what it's been like lately in MTL. Most people hide from the rain. But I welcome it. I loooove the rain! I say, bring it on! Rain makes everything better. Rain at the end of "Paranoid Android" in Vancouver. Rain at the end of "Man in the Mirror" for Wonder's set. And today, rain during Alice Russell and David Rotundo Band and Enrico Crivellaro was wonderful. Today was a good day! Great music all day long! Recap after the jump! This Halifax [...]

With so much talent to choose from, you might be tempted to pass on the band with the funny name, but at the end of [...]

Fairly busy week for your old friend Shane, but I thought I'd take time out to do you folks a frickin' service . Well, if you live or work in downtown Halifax, I'm doing you a service, otherwise you might not care. Starting tomorrow, there will be a series of free concerts taking place at lunchtime on the Grand Parade, and the lineup is fairly impressive: Wednesday, July 23 – Gypsophilia (gypsy-jazz) Thursday, July 24 – David Myles (folk) Fridays, July 25 – Brent Randall (indie/pop/alternative) Wednesday, July 30 – Thom Swift (roots/country-blues/rag) [...]
