Even though there may be some major label backing involved it would still seen incredible that Gypsy & The Cat's debut album 'Gilgamesh' has shifted almost a quarter of a million copies (they did support Kylie mind). A tad revelatory given the fact that we're living in 2012, a time when owning music is becoming a forgotten practise. Well the internet says it is so, and who are we to argue especially when we're now into a second unbroken day of the blinding dreampop persuasion of 'Bloom'. It being a prime cut from G&TC's second album 'The Late Blue' which [...]

The post Zwervers en katten appeared first on Apply Some Pressure .
I have had the song "Bloom" by Gypsy & The Cat on constant repeat for weeks now. Can you blame me? Going back a bit to August, the same Melbourne duo also released a video for the song "Sorry", which is apparently the first single from the bands' second album, coming out later this year? Don't quote me on that. Check out "Sorry".

If there was a soundtrack to my night last night, Bloom would totally fit in that playlist. Classic NYC nights can never be planned. Actually, epic nights are rarely ever planned. Ever notice how the most epic nights happen to take place on the most random of nights? I have. There are times when I like to try and attempt to recreate some of these epic episodes only to come up super short and super bored from a super lame night — so I stopped trying long ago. Anyhow, Bloom depicts the feeling [...]

On their second album, Melbourne DJs Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers of Gypsy and The Cat wanted to move away from the “yacht rock” sound that defined their critically acclaimed debut Gilgamesh. Looking for inspiration they turned to the psychedelic sounds of Spacemen 3, Supertramp and The Zombies. The result: The Late Blue, an album of “dreamscape ballads, driving tom-fuelled rock, lazy Nordic grooves and liquid tones”. Read more »

One of our favorite bands/albums to come out of 2010 down under were the duo of Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers of Gypsy and The Cat with their highly acclaimed debut, Gilgamesh Stream their followup sophomore release today, The Late Blue , an album of “dreamscape ballads, driving tom-fuelled rock, lazy Nordic grooves and liquid tones”, according to FasterLouder.com
Well, this lineup has quite frankly left us extremely confused... There are some acts that give us the horn and make us wanna snatch up a ticket straight away, namely The Stone Roses (fuuuarrrkkkkk) , Bloc Party, Gypsy & The Cat, The Temper Trap and The Prodigy . But then you have acts like Psy ... which tends to make us think 'what the fuck is this just a massive gee-up - where's Ashton Kutcher, are we being Punk'd?' Apart from that one massive brain-snap from the Future Music team we're absolutely pumped [...]

Here's a group that Deuce introduced to us in June of 2011, back with some new hits. The Melbourne duo, Gypsy and the Cat plan to release a new LP, The Late Blue with the song, "Bloom" to be it's first single. Enjoy the retro-pop, echoey tune below. MP3 | "Bloom" | Facebook
Today's music is based on a true story. Enjoy. : Gypsy And The Cat - Bloom : Here's a duo that's based out of Melbourne. They've got a fairly trendy retro pop sound, but I like this track a lot, and I'm anxious to hear more from them. The Late Blue is the name of their new LP, and it's expected out early next year. : Yellow Ostrich - Ghost : I love this band so much that I liked this song before I even took the time to listen [...]

No próximo dia 19 de outubro, o mundo receberá o segundo disco dos australianos Gypsy & The Cat , intitulado The Late Blue . Canções como "Time to Wander" e [...]

"Bloom" rushes in immediately with pounding beats and the sound of heavy breathing, the perfect way to begin what will become an immensely satisfying song. Australia's Gypsy & The Cat channel glossy '80s synths and their sound is reminiscent of a nicely balanced mesh of MGMT and Tame Impala , but really, the most important aspect of the duo is their legitimate understanding of how to do pop right. In fact, they nail it. "Bloom" is one hell of a catchy head-turner and I wouldn't be surprised if it helped to [...]

It has been a couple of years since we last heard anything from Melbourne art rock duo Gypsy & The Cat . Their latest track is the catchy "Bloom" and is off their new album, The Late Blue , that is due out early next year through Alsatian Music. You will hear a lot of 80s era influences on this one, particularly The Cure. Stream and get the track for the price of your email below.
When Gypsy & the Cat's sophomore record The Late Blue drops worldwide early next year (you lucky Australians get to hear it next month) and the entire universe falls in love, don't say we didn't warn you about their impending hugeness. On singles like "Bloom," the Melbourne trio prove that they might as well be creating their deliriously fun indie pop in a lab - it's so catchy, sunny, and effortless. You can trace that bouncy backbeat back to classic guitar pop bands like New Order , but we're getting an MGMT vibe too. Check [...]

Gypsy & The Cat are a Melbourne duo who's take on 802s synth infused take on yacht rock has landed them a lot of attention so far. They've received accolades from Neon Gold, a release on Young and Lost in the UK, a slot on a Kitsune Maison compilation, and a spot on the NME Poll for the twenty "most likely". I think it's warranted if they can keep making songs like "Bloom"; "a dreamscape ballad with washed out melodies and driving tom-fuelled rock and dance-floor highs". It was recorded and produced by the band with mixing help via Dave Fridmann (MGMT, Tame Impala). [...]
