FRIDAY THE TWILIGHT SAD You'll be hard-pressed to find a [...]

Seeing how our staff has distinct tastes and opinions on music, it would be nearly impossible for us to determine a 10 Albums of 2011 list as a single entity without excessive bloodshed. So over the next couple of days, we'll be posting Top 10 Albums of 2011 lists as determined by individual Loud Loop Press staff members. Today, associate editor Audrey Leon offers up her list for Top 10 Albums of 2011. I decided to do it a little differently this year. I honestly didn't think I could find another way to describe how great [...]

Our beautiful Chicago readers, the day has come! Tomorrow - that being, Friday, November 4th - Subterranean plays host to the raucous and the loud: Le Butcherettes and Gypsyblood . If you're feeling angsty from all that post-Halloween depression, worry no more. Tomorrow's festivities promise nothing less than blood-smattering chaos, whether it be Teri Gender Bender's horrifically erotic on-stage antics, or Gypsyblood's knack for visceral, crunchy fuzz. Keyword: chaos. If that's your sort of thang, then it would behoove you to make this your Friday night. Tickets are currently priced at $10, so [...]
Chicago alt-rockers Gypsyblood stopped by music website Audiotree to perform the sleepy track "Bright Futures," from this year's Cold in the Guestway . The track is anchored by low rumbling bass lines, fuzz-tinged guitars and oohs and ahhs. Don't forget to check out Gypsyblood this Friday at Subterranean for what is sure to be an explosive show with Lollapalooza rising stars Le Butcherettes and powerhouse brother/sister duo White Mystery . Tickets are $10 .

Photo by Cap Blackard Our fellow Chicago readers, mark your calendars! On Friday, November 4th, Subterranean will play host to the raucous and the loud: Gypsyblood and Le Butcherettes . Given frontwoman Terri Gender Bender's Joker-like adoration for pure, unadulterated chaos, and the venue's close-pocketed intimate setting, we're willing to bet this one will be, how do you say, "one for the cards"? You'll have to attend and find out. Tickets are currently priced at $10, so grab 'em while you can . Rest assured, we'll have a [...]

Gypsyblood So many shows, so little time. This weekend is brimming with excitement thanks to the brand-new Brilliant Corners of Popular Amusements fest happening in Eckhart Park and featuring the likes of Shellac, CAVE, A Lull, Hollows – to name a few. We're also talking about the Reggie's Live stage at the Bash on Wabash featuring White Mystery and tons more shows. Clouds, Schmouds. Let's rock. FRIDAY [...]
This album has been on constant rotation since I got it. I knew these guys were capable of creating punked pop songs and now I know that they can make an excellent record. Hybrids of americana, punk... Listen At BIRP!

Southsea Fest is a fully independent, budget price, multi-venue festival that from small beginnings in 2007 has gradually evolved into a one day event of real merit, with the 2011 line-up unquestionably being its best ever. Throughout the bill you'll find a strong card of emerging bands as well as the cream of local talent, plus the likes of past Mercury award nominated folk singer Fionn Regan and indie rockers Johnny Foreigner to give some weight through established acts. Previous years have seen the likes of Eliza Doolittle, The Joy Formidable and Pulled Apart by Horses play tiny 100 capacity [...]

Chicago 90s alt-rock-enthusiasts Gypsyblood have released a fancy, brand-spanking new video for the slow, fuzzed-up rocker "Take Your Picture" off its debut Cold in the Guestway . Not since the Bumblebee Girl tap-danced her way into the hearts and minds of everyone who saw Blind Melon's " No Rain " video have I been so ecstatic to see a young girl innocently spin and saunter her way through yet another short film. It's just adorable. And, yeah, I guess the band is too. Check it out.

A while back we turned the spotlight on Chicago's Gypsyblood , a noisy little combo with a history of in-fighting, codependency and a snazzy debut in the form of, Cold In the Guestway . Today we're happy to report that the band is still alive and well, and what's more, we're pleased as punch to be premiering the video for Take Your Picture , a noisy little number that starts with an innocuous-sounding U2ish riff before taking a hard right into more abrasive, albeit still pop-friendly, territory. [...]
Panda Riot Three oh-that's-where-Boo-Radley-is- from reasons to pick up a book from time to time and then hit up the Empty Bottle tonight... 1. This one is a no-brainer. It's practically a who's who of LLP favorites. It pretty much just writes itself! In fact, I'm going to kind of let it. Headliner Panda Riot might as well be honorary members of our little band of rag tag reporters. Their dream pop has garnered them a place in our [...]
Chicago alt-rockers Gypsyblood stopped by BreakThruRadio in NYC recently while on their tour with Maps & Atlases. They played a few songs and did an interview for the independent online radio station including a performance of "2-4-6 In The Dark," one of their more melodic tracks from the damn good debut Cold In The Guestway . And, lucky for you, you can watch the performance below. Dig it: [...]
