I've been racking up a lot of new music and I've been doing an otherwise terrible job at sharing it with you all. So here's some great tunes to kick start your Wednesday morning. I checked out The Republic Tigers last night at the Towne Lounge . You never know how you feel once you get out of work and if staying up late is worth it. I didn't stay for the whole set, but what I did see I was impressed with. I do sorta dig The Republic Tigers breed of [...]

My Forecastle weekend was a good one, but was marred by issues with my camera, even so, I was able to get off some shots on the first night of GZA & Del The Funky Homosapien . Check them out......... Some more pics can be found [...]
Forecastle got underway Friday evening with the hip hop heads and made it's way to co-headliners Del the Funky Homosapien & GZA/Genius. By the time Del came on, people were coming out of nowhere to absolutely jam-pack the Belevedere, and while dancing was a little constricted, that didn't keep people from moving. Although Meth couldn't make it, I think the vast majority of the crowd saw the combo as an upgrade. Personally, I thought Del was the highlight of the evening, but with GZA bringing some of his Wu-Tang rhymes with him & a sick freestyle, the combination made for [...]
Monday, July 28, 2008 Over the weekend I noticed that I had a small handful of hip hop tracks that I felt were worth sharing, so I decided to package them together in the form of a mini EP. Enjoy. : Doomtree - Game Over : A couple of years ago an artist by the name of POS dominated my life for quite a few months with what was his sophomore effort. Now, he's back. Sort of. Doomtree is the collective (they've all known each [...]

I'm heading down to the 2008 Forecastle Fest , in Louisville, KY at the Riverfront Belvedere today. Unfortunately had to miss Del and GZA kick things off last night. How were they? GZA - Alphabets You can still buy your tickets for the remaining two days for $18 – $23. Forecastle Lineup: Method Man Disco Biscuits Ekoostik Hookah Tortoise Dr. Dog - The Old Days [...]

This is why they call him the Genius. (No Leaping Lanny Poffo). On "Alphabets," the first single off Pro Tools, Gary Grice goes in hard off the haunted soul loop from True Master, who imitates early Rza probably better than Rza can at this point. Consider me cautiously optimistic for the record, considering in my opinion, GZA's never really come weak (long pause). Granted, Beneath the Surface was merely okay, but Legend of the Liquid Sword and the Grandmasters joint with Muggs are sorely undervalued gems within the Wu discography. [...]
Although the title of the album sounds like one of Apple's software products, Pro Tools is the newest GZA album that, although originally set to be released in January, is finally being released on August 19th. Considering I never write about new albums, why should I care? Because the two tracks below should give everyone a little taste of what to expect tonight when GZA rips the Belvedere apart at Forecastle.... GZA - Alphabets 1. Intromental 2. [...]

DOWNLOAD GZA - Alphabets (MP3) GZA drops the first single off of Pro-Tools (Aug 19th/Babygrand) and it's dope 'Amplified Sample' style. Remember where you heard this.

GZA " Alphabets ": Some more new GZA from his forthcoming ProTools LP. Once dude gets into that pocket, its a wrap. Via BGDB , who also has the tracklist.
Pitchfork.tv spent a fun-filled evening with GZA and his son a short while ago, but now it's back to business for the Wu-Tang's resident Genius. Pro Tools , his forthcoming album, features some production assistance from the RZA, but "Alphabets" owes its murky mood and bell-like guitar/piano loop to producer True Master. The music is raw, straightforward, and simple, a functional backdrop for dense rhymes that touch on hip-hop, spirituality, and the creative process. MP3:> GZA: "Alphabets" [from Pro Tools [...]

P ffffft, please. 50 Cent is worth like half a billion dollars. FOR REAL. He's been shot 50 times, and lived. Now, we're sure he's busy being devestated , as he's laughing into a bed covered in money and women. This GZA/50 Cent fued has about as much weight and as the made-for-press fued Hilary Duff vs Lindsay Lohan had about Aaron Carter . Come [...]
Wu-Tangs sharpest GZA goes at Vitamin Water pitchman 50 Cent on the first track from upcoming ProTools Aug.19th (BabyGrande). GZA will be in Minneapolis Sept. 4th at Cabooze, he'll be performing Liquid Swords . GZA-" "Paper Plates" "-via[ 2Dopeboyz ]

GZA " Paper Plates ": I had been waiting for this 50 Cent diss to come up all day, ever since peeping what GZA had to say about the situation . I heard Pitchfork would have it, but saw nathan, all day. I go home, get on the PC about 10 minutes ago, and I see Shake had it up... 4 hours ago ! In any case, this is that gutter shit. I don't think 50 can fuck with this. From GZA's forthcoming ProTools album, which drops in August. PS: This [...]
