I need to get the fuck out of town edition : Life's been a little strange lately. Energy is incredibly hard to come by these days. I don't find myself as motivated to update the site as often as I normally do. Winter has taken its toll I guess. Haale (pronounced similar to Hallelujah ) successfully manages to blend the traditional rhythm and passion of Persian and Sufi Trance music and fuse it with a beautiful take on the post modern rock most readily associated with the likes of Radiohead . Dark and beautifully orchestrated spaces allow for the true breadth of her voice to shine throughout the title track of her debut release No Ceiling (available now on MP3 and on CD March 18 th ). Haale released two EPs ( Morning and Paratrooper ) last year, so if her name sounds familiar that might be why. On the other hand, you could be scratching your head right now asking, "Who?" I think I should have posted Haale as a Party Tune . Because her blend of psychedelic rock , tribal drumming and soaring vocals (in both English and Farsi ), lends itself well to a party. Keep the EPs coming! I have to be honest. When it came to Middle Eastern music, my list pretty well started with Erick Sermons React , ended with that Diwali song they played on the Office and had nothing in between. Im pretty well in the dark about Iranian music, so Haale kind of went under my radar. Whats that? Haale is NYC singer with Iranian roots. She mixes tradionational sufi rhythms with her own interpretation of sixties psychedelica. It sounds amazing. In a better world she would have singed a million dollar records deal ages ago. As it is, her two EP's Morning and Paratrooper are self-released.
