1. Greetings from Kuwait! Loft965.com picked "Pop Song" as a "Sexy Track" of 2011! How do you feel about that and what do you think the rest of the year holds for you? I am happy to hear that, thank you. I have to say I didn't realize it was such a sexy song, I thought it was just honest. I think I will be busy writing and recording my third album for the rest of the year. I will be releasing it in 2012. [...]

Formerly of GusGus, Hafdis Huld has done well as a solo artists. The Icelandic muse is already on the campaign for her third album and this is the lead single off of it. It's kooky, as we came to expect from her, but also perfect for those crisp autumn mornings. The lyrics are simple yet striking. The arrangement is the same without straying too far away from her signature sound which is a great mixture between winter folk and playground love. This track is a breezy numbered that will leave you wanting more. Filed [...]

This Icelandic girl is super cute and while her video reminds me a lot of Bright Eye's "The First Day of My Life ," it's not a bad reference to make.

We needed this today. Something light and fun -- in this case, "Action Man" from the always charming Icelandic singer and songwriter Ms. Hafdis Huld . Her latest Synchronised Swimmers longplayer gets an actual and much-belated CD release November 23 (available digitally now), an album we've described as residing "just left of center in the sphere of deliciously melodic and witty alt-pop." More here .

Synchronised Swimmers , the radiant sophomore solo release from Icelandic chanteuse Hafdis Huld , finds that special place that resides just left of center in the sphere of deliciously melodic and witty alt-pop. The mood is playful and the touch is light on songs that sound like they were recorded with all participants sporting an ear-to-ear grin: witness the irresistible "Action Man" (after the jump) where a pair of blissed out back up singers pop up to offer sighing "oohs" and "ahhs" to Huld's breathy vocal charms and a lighthearted banjo twang. The follow up to Dirty Paper [...]

HAFDIS HULD is the artist that accompanies me on this rainy day, as I sit thru torrents of rain this Icelandic beauty is serenading me with her melodies. Hafdis started her career with Gus Gus and evolved into a beautiful solo act, apparently this girl has been at it since the age of ten operating a neighborhood circus and all from her garage. The songs I am posting are from her album released in 2006 Dirty Paper Cup , enjoy! - JAKE [...]

Taking a break from mind-curdling website stuff (I should be lapping it up, but my heart's very much elsewhere) - I did see that lovely, bubbly Hafdis Huld has done a sorta home-video with bits of new songs from the second album - it's great fun, although what a shame the recording budget didn't run to heating for the studio - ha ha!... perhaps they were trying to make her feel as if she was back in Iceland?.

If you recall, I very much enjoyed the Hafdis Huld gig in Portsmouth a while ago, but could only mention the new songs she played; well now you can get a taste of a couple via these videos from a little acoustic session at Phoenix FM recently. I'd have closed the curtains myself, and have to say that these capture but a fraction of her bubbly off-beat charm & humour... really, really see her live if you get a chance to. 13 April - Curious Generation @ The Source Below - London 25 April [...]

What a marvellous gig last night for Hafdis Huld in Portsmouth - I've no idea why it wasn't better attended, but if you could've gone & didn't... you missed a lovely evening of music & laughter. Great sound, great backing band, great atmosphere, a thoroughly good evening out. Hafdis opened with what will likely be the title track of her new album, due in the autumn - Synchronised Swimmers, and we got a few more previews of songs from it too. I can't remember the names of new ones now, but there was one about a [...]

Woo hoo doodly doo - another night out later, to see Hafdis Huld play. She's from Iceland, so it's a small mercy (so far) not to have read any pr guff saying "Bjork for the 21st Century"... hmm, there's still time for such musical compartmentalism though - perhaps the local press will oblige?. Seriously though, this should be good; hopefully The Cellars won't start to empty after the local support acts finish, which seemed to be the case at Polly Scattergood on Monday; Hafdis has played there before, & went down [...]
