I first caught wind of Idiot Wind 's Amanda Bergman last winter when she released her debut EP under that moniker, available only at the merch table on tour with the Tallest Man on Earth. The pair have been performing incredibly endearing, buzz-inducing duets of late — resulting in a number of must-watch video clips . Tracing Bergman's solo career has proven to be no easy feat, though, as she has been humbly reluctant to drop a digital release, not to mention settle on a name to claim the much-deserved hype. "Perhaps I just wanted to [...]
Heel erg jammer!

Knoppar is selling a new, limited Christmas single from Hajen with the proceeds going to charity: http://knoppar.blogspot.com/20 08/12/hajens-julsng.html
Absolut Noise talks to three of the dudes from The Bear Quartet (Jari, Matti and Calle) and the band Hajen about their favorite music of 2008: http://absolutnoise.blogspot.c om/2008/12/2008-swedish-artist s-picks-part-1.html

AMERICA: I Guess I'm Floating City Center – Summer School Brooklyn's City Center is the solo work of Fred Thomas from Saturday Looks Good To Me, focusing on ornamental, experimental pop songs created from found sounds, manipulated samples and Thomas's own guitar and vocals. While there's no official debut yet, he has released a handful of 7"s and there are over 30 free MP3s up for grabs at his blog ( http://citycenternyc.blogspot. com). Look for a debut sometime in 2009. ARGENTINA: Zonaindie [...]

The first installment of the Music Alliance Pact was a good introduction to a collective feature that's continuing to grow as a beacon of solidarity in the music blog community. Last month featured a collection of 12 songs from 12 blogs from around the world, each chosen to represent the country from which each band (and blog) originates. This month we've added the much-missed Canadadian and Norwegian blogs I(Heart)Music and Eardrums , respectively, bringing the total world representation to 5 of 7 continents (Africa and Antarctica, we're comin' for ya!). MAP's [...]

Vive la revolution! Following the wild success of the inaugural Music Alliance Pact last month, we've been working our wee socks off to collate November's selections, now expanded to 14 countries thanks to the additions of ambassadors from Canada and Norway. Just to remind you, MAP is a venture set up by The Pop Cop in which the hottest music blogs from Planet Earth pick their favourite song of the month by an artist from their country then simultaneously post the entire collection of songs on their own sites on the same [...]
Eardrums is now a member of the Music Alliance Pact, a monthly feature where music bloggers across the world share a track from their home country which they are excited about. 14 countries are represented in the Music Alliance Pact (MAP), and we will all post a list of all the MAP-songs on the 15th of each month. The MAP project is originally the idea of Jason from the Pop Cop blog, and he's also the one who is organizing the whole team. Thanks to him for the great work he's done! Here [...]
Just because our "New Faces of Swedish Electronica" week is over it doesn't mean we shouldn't have more beat heavy Swedish music on Swedesplease. The Stockholm based band MFMB combines electronica beats with shoegaze fuzz and agro vocals. It's an od mixture and one I haven't really heard since the UK groups New Model Army or The Damned. The bands' new ep is called The Fine Detail and is available as a free download here . Control Anthill Man --- [...]

I hoped that last week's post of the music of Amanda Bergman (known as Hajen ) would stir some interest with other music bloggers on the internet. While there hasn't been a cascade of coverage some other people were as impressed with her as I was and followed up on my post (a particularly thorough piece here via Scratchy Buckles). I was so taken with Hajen that I immediately sent her a set of questions I had about her music. Before you read further though check out another of Hajen's songs; her [...]

Of course the comparisons of Hajen's music to that of Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, Laleh and nearly any other piano based songstress are apt. And I'm sure those are fair comparisons. But they're just a jumping off point in this instance. Everyone's DNA is so slightly different. So, like there are no two identical snowflakes, there are also no two identical singers. On the song "Scapegoat" there is a certain something in the way Hajen's voice fluctuates and soars, something about her turns of phrase ("put down that shield") and a certain something special when she [...]

Hajen Plug out the piano Références musicales : Laleh, Miss Li, Regina Spektor Hajen - Sharks (mp3) There is this girl from Göteborg named Amanda. I only know few things about her. She sings with her naked piano. She seems quite unknown since her MySpace profil was seen by only 700 people. Her artist name is Hajen . She reminds me Laleh with [...]
