We are exceedingly pleased to be presenting this Saturday alongside our friends at The Ash Gray Proclamation a sterling evening of rock and roll music. The bill, as the title of this post makes clear, features local heroes Hallelujah The Hills , Ted Billings of Age Rings , Richard Davies and The Blue Dress . The show is at PA's Lounge, and we are (briefly) coming out of our just-had-a-baby-show-going-hia tus to make the scene because, you know, we love rock and roll music. Hallelujah The [...]

These mixes were posted in January and February 2010, the winter of our discontent. Seriously, the blog was on life support during this time. We're through that storm now. 2010 was such a great year for music, and these early mixes show why. Many of the tracks were available in late 2009, but appeared on 2010 releases. Tracks are from late October through late November 2009 Gapless mix ripped at 256k VBR. Download all tracks in one zip file [...]
In a world full of trouble, people like the chance to focus on something positive - so, even though they're all royal and all the baggage that comes with that, there are still a lot of people around the world who are interested, even excited, by the royal wedding next Friday of Prince William and [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

top of the mid morning! if youre anything like me, part two, you probably dont frequent pitchfork too much these days. i, honestly, just cant stomach it. anyway, they talked about a guided by voices cassette only comp that wild animal kingdom records recently put out that features a bunch of bands i have never heard of except for my boys, hallelujah the hills . the cassette only release has since sold out, and i really wanted to buy one, but w/o a tape player it would have done me zero good. nice to look [...]
What seems more and more like a rare occasion for me, I actually got out to a show on a Wednesday night last week at the Horseshoe Tavern, specifically to see buzz-y Jersey rockers Titus Andronicus and also to see Boston's Hallelujah The Hills who I'd remembered liking when they opened for Silver Jews at Lee's Palace in September 2008. Also on this night's bill were unknown entities Austin duo Yellow Fever, although having read some good things about them on Pitchfork I was intrigued to check them out. I arrived a little after 9 pm [...]

Toronto - You know, Titus Andronicus frontman Patrick Stickles is a pretty funny guy at times. Early in their set, an audience member shouted out, "I love your beard!" Stickles' reply: "Thanks. this next song is about what's going on behind that beard. All will be revealed." He's an interesting character, the sort who'll ask an audience if their needs are being met tonight or announce guitarist/violinist Amy Klein's recent purchase of some guitar pedals (and then go on to explain what pedals are for "any laymen in the crowd") He's a pretty engaging frontman. Based on [...]
June was awesome (shows-wise, at least). Saw Titus Andronicus for the probably 300th time. Also saw Cults, Male Bonding, Ducktails, Andrew Cedermark, Dana Jewell, Big Troubles, No Demons Here, WOOM, Wild Nothing, Tonstartssbandht, and Makeout Videotape. And that was just in the past week or so. The first 10 days of July promise to be just as incredible. The highlights for this week and a half are Beach Fossils (7/1), Alex Bleeker & The Freaks (7/2, Group Tightener Record Release Show), The Hood Internet (7/2), t he Rooftop Films shows (7/2, 7/3, 7/7), [...]
Current album of the year standard bearers Titus Andronicus know how to put on a show. Michael Roffman left no superlative untouched when he reviewed their show in Chicago last April, and rightfully so. If you haven't bought their latest album, the CoS Top Star garnering The Monitor , drop whatever you are doing, and go buy it now. I'll wait. You back? It's pretty fucking superlative, eh? Therefore, setting all this chat aside, these Jersey boys and girl are hitting the road this summer, and you need to see them. [...]

![[mp3] Hallelujah the Hills - "That Ticking Sound You Hear" & "Introductory Saints"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2619286_lg.jpg)
Hallelujah The Hills ' 2009 sophomore album, Colonial Drones , was a promising, spirited bit of a underdog indie-rock that featured a terrific lead single in "Blank Passports". To prepare for their upcoming summer slot opening for one of this year's breakout success stories, Titus Andronicus , the Boston-based 6 piece has released two new free singles to the internet. "That Ticking Sound You Hear" is a slowly building, rickety bit of indie-folk that has an experimental underbelly, and "Introductory Saints" has a barroom feel to it as it chugs along. Both [...]
Hallelujah The Hills - "Allied Lions" from the 2009 album Colonial Drones on Misra.

When I started my State Songs series at the start of 2009 I anticipated that "We'll be in Wyoming by Christmas!" How optimistic. For one reason or another it's been more than four months since the last one, Maryland , so next December now looks like a more realistic end to the trip. I will endeavour to pick up the pace in the coming weeks though. Before we get on to the songs, here's some trivia I gleaned from the Massachusetts Citizens Information Service . [...]
