The three-piece Chapel Hill, N.C.-based play an energetic sort of indie rock. Hammer No More The Fingers, seemingly inspired by a plethora of progenitors to more recent indie rock trends, released their self-titled debut EP on Power Team Records On Nov. 16, 2007. The group, with their Pavement-inflected style, provide something that's been missing in [...]

Despite the fact that I keep getting their name wrong, Hammer No More The Fingers (who I keep calling No More Hammering Fingers) has drawn me into their fun-filled rock adventure full of weird twists and turns that keep me wanting to listen to just a little bit long until - before you realize it - the song is over. If you're like me, there's nothing a good show can't cure. The only problem is when there is multiple good shows on the same night. That's the case today. In Baltimore, home town heroes Lake Trout take on the Ottobar with Gunwife Gone and Cocos Palme. Down the road at the Talking Head , Judd and Maggie play with Water School, Steve Hefter & Friends of Friends, and Quick Step John. You couldn't ask for a better show at the Black Cat in DC where Hammer No More The Fingers [...]

image by Audrey Kawasaki Hello all, promotion mail from artists and labels have been collecting in my mailbox for some time, unfortunately with my busy schedule I haven't been able to reply or feature them here. Today I found some time to check a good portion of them. Here are some that garnered my attention. Most are indie & folk. Wow, there must be thousands of indie bands right now. Hard to make a name for you in the indie scene nowadays, eh? BTW those kids from Fanatic Promotion are really [...]

Here's a little sumthin'-sumthin' for your Friday night. It's coming from a Durham / Chapel Hill, NC band (which just seems to be a good music factory with all the talent coming out of the area) named Hammer No More the Fingers (talk about a mouthful). The trio just came together last December but have already put out their self-titled debut this last Wednesday. The album gets to the point quick with its seven tracks, and the sound is a mix between Pavement (i.e. off-kilter notes here and then that shouldn't harmonize [...]
Time for another round of mp3s that have been sent to (Okay, not me but muruch) by various bands, labels, and pr people. Some are good, the rest aren't really my taste but others may like them. If so, buy the albums at Amazon , CDBaby , Insound , or the band's websites. Condor Moments - Lord Protector Milk Collector [...]

Hammer No More The Fingers Genre: Indie / Post punk From: Durham, North Carolina United States The intriguingly named Hammer No More the Fingers were formed in 1994 by a trio of precocious 10 year olds playing original music apart from an Archers of Loaf [...]
If you guys are interested in reading even more about Fun Fun Fun Fest then I suggest jumping over to the Austin Sound. My review and pictures are there along with the same from Doug Freeman. There's even some commentary from a few of the local artists that were in attendance. It's seriously good stuff. Perhaps you can even check it out as you listen to the amazingly tasty EP that I have today. Enjoy. Please visit the site for more commentary and downloadable songs.

I seem to be running across great straight up rock and roll recently. No fancy production. No gospel choirs in the background. Just ROCK. Hammer No More Fingers is a three piece outfit from Durham, NC who play crunchy power pop rock that gets your head nodding instantly. They have an S/T album out on Power Team Records for only 8 bucks. It's not often you get quality rock for 8 bucks, so go get it! mp3: Hammer No More Fingers - O.R.G.Y. --> website --> [...]

A big thanks to the past week's guest bloggers Jinners , Murf , and Michael K , without whom my mad-crazy week would have been madder-crazy. I wish I could buy the three of you this Happy Monkey radio from Japan. But the whole dollar-to-yen thing has me confused, so you'll have to settle for a beer next time I see you. Here is November's batch of extrawack! approved, totally gratis and legal, Zune-pimpin', body-rockin', non-stoppin', etc., etc., etc., downloads. We usually offer you some great choices, but this [...]

Hammer No More the Fingers is an explosive 3-piece from Durham/Chapel Hill, NC that make melodic, punchy, free flowing rock that is all their own. In 1994 they were 10-year-olds playing all original music except for an Archers of Loaf cover. RHCP, Pixies, TMBG, and, God forbid, Nirvana probably formed the mold. Later, while Joe Hall (guitar, harmony) was finishing up at UNC, Duncan Webster (bass, vocals) spent his time in NYC soaking up the music scene. In December 2006, long time friend Jeff "Stick" Stickley joined with his drum kit - and Hammer No More the Fingers was [...]

It makes sense that many musically inclined college graduates of the past few years are finding solace in the apparent revitalization of '90s indie-rock. It was their own introductory period of exposure to artistic influence, after all. Not only does such a form of recent modernization provide a brisk whiff of nostalgia, but also also inherent hope within young artists in that they can consume themselves in a style that both they and their audiences can enjoy mutually. Believe it or not, some artists despise their own genre. They wander aimlessly, feeding into the palm of a corporate hierarchy that [...]
