Another busy Monday ... ► Tift Merritt won plenty of acclaim for last year's "See You on the Moon," her fourth album, and her recent turn in the star-studded Big Star tribute in New York City only polished her resumé. The 36-year-old singer-songwriter nears the end of a long tour with roots rocker Stephen Kellogg tonight at the Bootleg Theater. This week's newest additions to the Rock Band Network are sparse, with continuing outages on the Playstation Network and only a handful of tracks hitting the Xbox 360. This week's metal roundup includes songs from Amberian Dawn, Andromeda, and Tesseract. The complete list of newly added Xbox 360 Rock Band Network songs, including the non-metal t... You rarely get to see a band doing the behind the scenes stuff, but it great to see the band goofing around with each other. There is a lot of down time in between takes of songs when taping for a TV show. Grace and the rest of the band made sure to keep all of us entertained. Benny Yurco showed what true band love is, by picking Cat Popper's nose for her. Grace marveled at Benny's chest hair in the deep-v they had him wear for TV. This led to some conversation amongst the band about Grace's chest and [...]

ramon felix Precocious over-educated hipsters generally HATE it when actors jump into music. After all, how could someone who wakes up at 4 AM to be on "My Name Is Earl" ever truly know the ecstasies and agonies of seeing a band close out the Echoplex? But actor Adam Goldberg, most famous for getting stabbed by a Nazi in Saving Private Ryan, proved to everybody with 2009's LANDy that he can make an album in his spare time as good or better than what most kids in Echo Park do all day. [...]

MP3 I was lurking one of my favorite blogs for some positive tunage, and I got what I was looking for: A new track from King Tuff-a.k.a. Kyle Thomas, a.k.a. the frontman of Happy Birthday . On "Hands," rides a wave of flanged guitars into a sunny rock riffs. Though the song is pretty upbeat, there's something kind of freakish about it. Maybe it's the weird, shouting background vocals. Apparently, this 7" is being released by Scion as a promotional deelie. OK. That's coo. Hear the Hex [...]
You've heard Kyle Thomas' cracked warble through the infectious radio garage-pop of Happy Birthday. Now we're all lucky enough to be re-introduced to Thomas' original hip-swaggering, pelvic thrusting rock 'n' roll band King Tuff. "Hands" sounds like the squelch of spandex on the floor of Bill Graham's Fillmore East when Mick Jagger dragged his crotch [...]

Featured this week we can't tell you how much we did Lykke Li' s "Little Bit", remixed by CSS. Although her new album Wounded Rhymes (released 3/1/11) didn't really stick with us, she's still quite remixable. Also this week is Friends Electric who we featured last week . The Answering Machine has been on everyone's playlists and we jumped [...]

Dirty Hands play rock'n'roll. If an Independent article and website biography are anything to go by, they also really like James Dean and The Strokes. That's three whole reasons to give Dirty Hands a try. Listening to Dirty Hands is the musical equivalent of swallowing down a handful of gravel and four fingers of whiskey. A confusing metaphor perhaps, but one they're sure to be proud of. There's nothing half hearted about Dirty Hands, from the hopeful early notes of 'Baby, Life's Too Short', to the first callous, uncompromising vocals, everything you need to know - or at [...]
