Star Tribune (Minneapolis) (MCT) -- MINNEAPOLIS - His dad has been in the news lately for saying crazy things, but Hank Williams III is really the one going off on a wild tangent these days. The son of recently ejected "Monday Night Football" theme song singer Hank Jr. - and obviously the grandson of country music's greatest icon - Hank III just issued four albums in one bold swoop to mark his coming out as an independent artist with his...

Punk/country singer Hank Williams III has weighed in the controversy surrounding his father's comparison of Obama to Hitler on Fox & Friends yesteday . Williams' father, who is also the voice of Monday Night Football , stoked the controversy by suggesting that House Speaker Boehner meeting with the current President of the United States was like meeting with Hitler. Williams III didn't go so far as to defend his father, but noted via TMZ : My Dad should not talk politics. Most musicians are "not worthy" of a political discussion. [...]
Cool fan video for "Gutter Town" from Hank 3's new double album "Ghost to a Ghost/Gutter Town."

What not to buy: Hank III - Ghost To A Ghost Why?: You put more effort into forming that question than he did in the entire cd. Okay, that's pretty bad but seriously; why?: No, seriously. Ghost To A Ghost is, in a word, lazy. In another word, bad. In a stream of words: It's disrespectful to our little underground scene that this album was released in any form that requires money for you to hear it. I was going to launch into a huge rant about Ghost [...]
Hank Williams III released four albums last week and I'm only now getting around to checking them out. I've never really listened to Hank the Third before, but if you put out four records in a week ranging from doom metal to folk, yeah, I'll have a listen. "Fading Moon" off the Ghost to a [...]
Hank Williams III, aka Hank 3, got pretty damn ambitious this year and released four albums worth of wildly different material last week. Yeah, dude doesn't really mess around when it comes to churning out new records. He already dropped an album earlier this year ( Hillbilly Joker ) while putting out a record in both 2010 and '09, too. And on one of the recent projects -- double-album Ghost to a Ghost/Gutter Town -- Williams joined forces with the god of growlers, Tom Waits, for a pair of tracks. His vocals are far [...]

Tom Waits Records w/ Hank Williams III While Bob Dylan and Jack White have been off completing unearthed songs by country legend Hank Williams, Tom Waits has teamed up with his surviving grandson for a pair of new tunes (in addition to prepping his own new LP ). Last week, Shelton Hank Williams III, aka Hank3, released four multi-genre records, widely ranging from country and doom-rock to speed metal. Waits contributed guest vocals to the first disc, Ghost to a Ghost , including a howling take [...]
The spirit of his grandfather lives on in Hank 3's willingness to take risks with his music and his ability.
LOS ANGELES, CA - FRIDAY, June 24, 2011 -- With his own new label, Hank3 Records, and the sense that he has thrown off the chains holding him back creatively, Shelton Hank Williams III, aka Hank3, is coming out swinging this year with the release of FOUR records on September 6 - that's right - FOUR. The unprecedented launch, in a distribution ... Read More/Discuss on Metal Underground.com
Some old songs see the official light of day, split the difference between Hank III proper and Assjack. First things first: If my bootleg Hank III collection (what, you don't have one?) is to be believed, a large percentage -- 80%, to be exact -- of the tracks on Hillbilly Joker have been floating around the interwebs in a quasi-legal status since 2003 under the album title This Ain't Country. (Some tracks also appear on III Shades of Hank; use this information however you'd like.) That said, even with a new moniker, the...
I just watched the extremely entertaining movie The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia , a documentary about the White family, the partying red neck rock stars of Boone County, West Virginia. The White family lives a life of excessive drug use and violence, and one of their friends is Hank Williams III. Throughout the movie he performs some acoustic versions and I found this "Punch Fight Fuck" one pretty great. Hank Williams III sounds and looks a lot like his grandfather , but he's taken the traditional country sound into a punk, hardcore, psychobilly direction. [...]
From Weezy to Yeezy, Mojo to Mondo, The ArchAndroid to the Rebel Within , here's the next in Culture Bully's posts looking back on the year's best music; this time counting down the top albums of 2010.

We've been ardent supporters of the Felice Brothers around these parts for quite some time now, having been smitten with their brand of story heavy Americana. The ragtag band from the Catskills, who earlier this summer opened several shows for the Dave Matthews Band, will continue their assault on the road as they've announced plans for a lengthy cross-country fall tour that kicks off on September 18 in Bristol, TN and includes a high profile stop at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco on October 3 as well as a Halloween night [...]
Hank Williams III and the Damn Band brought their brand of crazed country music to Calgary's Whiskey this past Tuesday and the crowd ate it up; showing that there might be a few true country music fans left in "Cowtown."
Hank Williams III, the Damn Band & Assjack will perform at The Republik in Calgary this coming June 15.
"Rebel Within" is Hank Williams III's angry, booze-soaked sign off to a label that has attempted to smother him for the past decade and a half.
With his lineage, he is a music marketer's dream—but he doesn't care. He makes vile, offensive, hardcore honky tonk records about drugs, drink and life on the road. It is a BEAUTIFUL thing to behold, and this 2006 release is his best.
