Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard - Like A Dog Chasing Cars I'll let you in on a little secret: I find it almost impossible to write about the music I love. I mean really. Truly. Love. The kind of music I'd shoot someone in the leg for. I'm not kidding. Bam. Right in the leg. New patella for Johnny. Blood-spurts and swear words. That kind of music. That kind of love. Truth be told it's the [...]
Each month, I make a playlist consisting of an artist of every letter of the alphabet. This month, every song either pertains to the ending of summer or the beginning of the school year (for those of us still in the education system). This is August 2008: 1. The Homeless And The Hummingbirds - Alaska In Winter - Alternative - Dance Party In The Balkans Download It Here The tactfully selected lyrics to this song make me want to immerse myself in they're simple truth. I encourage you to do the same. [...]
Why so Serious? In the realm of movie soundtracks Hans Zimmer is pretty much the authority. With classics like Gladiator, Last Samurai, and co composing duties on the Pirates trilogy, Zimmer has established himself as the premiere movie soundtrack composer. It comes as no surprise then that Zimmer's composition with James Newton Howard is of the highest quality. The soundtrack does an excellent job conveying the emotions of the film while retaining some the musical trends established in the Batman Begins Soundtrack. [...]

Okay. I realize that The Dark Knight has had it's share of publicity, and posting about it on my blog may not convince any of the three, maybe four, people who have yet to see the film to check it out. But, man... Epic. I know what you're thinking. "Wait, isn't this a music blog and not a movie blog?" Yes, yes it is. That is why it's fortunate Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard collaborated to make a damn fine original soundtrack for the movie. The soundtrack [...]

This is easily my most anticipated film of the year - The Dark Knight . There's been way too much hype and media coverage , especially after the death of star Heath Ledger earlier this year. From all appearances, advance reviews and talk from friends, this movie is going to be simply amazing. I'm hoping to see it tonight or tomorrow, hopefully in IMAX, if I can find tickets. One thing that [...]

This may be the most random post I've made on this site but I feel I must share the soundtrack of my trip to Malaysia. To be honest, the tracks listened to while sipping Tiger beers on the beaches of Kuantan and Port Dickson among others mainly consisted of two albums - Colbie Caillat's Coco [...]

The Bamboo Orchestra is back after the long break, and what a better time to come back than the Halloween night, with a new Midnight Mix? This is part 2 of my annual Halloween mix, (you can view part 1 here). The overall mood is: dark, sinister and mystical. Various tones throughout the mix, ranging from German IDM to horror movie score. Most of the five tracks are wordless, with the exception of the closer, a haunting classic from Cibo Matto. For a setting, think of an empty, winding road. Dark clouds rolling above. The clapping [...]

Okay, I assume that most people have seen the movie by now (I still haven't, so no spoilers, please). That's me and timing, this post was supposed to be available online last Friday, but life got in the way...(insert more lame excuses for being a lazy blogger). So for those who have seen it and felt disappointed, there's music from the tv show back then, and for those who haven't, there's some from the movie soundtrack, too. I've always been a huge fan of The Simpsons. I'm as old as the show itself, and yes I'm one of [...]
