Filed under: I Freakin' Love This Song 'I Want You Back,' the Jackson 5 From 1969's ' Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5' Look, I'm pretty young. I missed the Jackson 5's breakthrough hit, 'I Want You Back,' by a long shot, and I wasn't even born when the 'Thriller' video hit the scene. On the cusp of my 11th birthday, I fell in love not with the Jacksons, but with a certain other band of brothers who were seemingly [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive From one musical family to another, Hanson pay their respect to Michael Jackson , who, like the brothers, was thrust into the musical spotlight at a young age. Jackson passed away Thursday at the age of 50. "It is difficult to think of a more impactful loss from the passing of an icon, than that of Michael Jackson," the Hanson brothers -- Taylor, Isaac and Zac -- tell Spinner. "His entire 40-year career has been one of the greatest inspirations to our [...]

by the QC staff (blurb by chris carp) As a music web site, we consider ourselves to have a well refined taste. However, we are all guilty of taking a dip in the lame pool at some point in our formative years. Some of us even did laps. The first step in the grieving process is nonstop crying, but at some point after that comes acceptance. Today we're here to accept our mistakes and confess albums we once loved but are not so proud to admit. Don't judge [...]

Filed under: The Interface To call the lineup in Tinted Windows diverse would be putting it mildly. But for the band -- Hanson 's Taylor Hanson, former Smashing Pumpkins ' guitarist James Iha, Fountains of Wayne' s Adam Schlesinger and Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos -- who made you go "huh?" it's just another project. "These songs aren't meant to be ironic, you know? They're just pop songs," Schlesinger tells Spinner at the band's Interface taping. "They're so unironic that they're [...]

[Happy birthday to Kim Gordon. And happy Tuesday to you ...] Tinted Windows , the seemingly unlikely conflagration of Taylor Hanson (Hanson), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Track), hits town for a sold-out show at the Troubadour tonight. Tinted Windows' debut album, out last week, doesn't exactly live up to the band's lineage, but you wouldn't flip radio stations if "Kind of a Girl" or "Messing With My Head" came on, although you'd feel more excited if it were [...]
There’s something about odd couples I find strangely compelling, in a squinty-eyed, amateur anthropologist middle school girl type of way. And not necessarily peculiar physical pairings, though the metabolically challenged/beanpole, hottie/nottie combos are always worth a good gawk. What really gets my synapses firing is couples, friends and families with totally divergent approaches to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Strangely, these red/blue, church/state, Pabst/martini pairings often end up being as delightful for the participants as they are for the observers. That’s why these borderline freakazoid new supergroup partnerships have me reeling, clapping, cackling and [...]

You may have heard rumors, and yes this band exists and it is not a joke. Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick) and Taylor Hanson (Hanson) have teamed up to form a superpop group. I have had the privilege of previewing the album and it was everything I expected and hoped for. People all over the blogosphere are finding themselves shocked at how enjoyable this album is. But those same people have probably heard one song from both Hanson ("Mmmbop") and Fountains of Wayne ("Stacy's Mom") and wrote them off. But each [...]

Photo and interview by Derek Evers Video by Maia Stern If you would've told me when I started doing all of this, that one day I'd be interviewing Taylor Hanson , I probably would've laughed. No offense to him or his brothers, but Hanson was not on my radar for bands I should be covering. But as fate would have it, the stars have aligned - literally - as Taylor is now the front man for the infamous WTF supergroup Tinted Windows . [...]
