Quotable quote of the day

Former preteen pop icons Hanson are gearing up to release their fifth album, Shout It Out, in June

Video of the Moment #255: Hanson

Think back 13 years to the Spring of 1997, when a band of 3 brothers, aged 11, 14 and 16, stormed the charts with their infectious debut single, 'Mmmbop.' How much has your life changed since then? How different are you now from when you were that age? Well,  Hanson has changed, too. While the majority of the music world has chosen only to view Hanson as "that band that looked like girls" or "that Mmmbop band," loyal Hanson fans have been in for a real treat. Since their debut album, 'Middle of Nowhere,' was [...]

"Thinking 'Bout Something" with Hanson and Weird Al

It's been over a decade since Hanson gave up "MMMBop," and now the boys are all grown up. They're still putting out records too! Their latest, Shout It Out , will arrive on June 8, and the first single from the record, "Thinking 'Bout Something," is out via iTunes on April 27. The band put out a video for the song (above), which reunites them with "Weird Al" Yankovic (who directed several videos for the band in the past). Check it out above.

New Hanson video

While watching this video I have to keep telling myself not to feel bad about liking it because we here at Guilt Free Pleasures don't believe in guilty pleasures! Man, this one was a hard one for me to admit that I liked, but it made me smile, so I'm posting it. It's fun! And Hanson is technically Indie now, so there. ;-P The single will be available to purchase on April 27th and the album

Indie Alt Blog Buzzband HANSON releases new video

Indie Alt Blog Buzzband HANSON releases new video From what I understand, Hanson used to be a band of three brothers from Oklahoma that consisted of tweens before the 'tween' demographic became a legitimate consumer force in America, since they all got cell phones + high speed internet. They were sorta like The Jonas Brothers, except the music marketing machine was kinda different in the late 1990s [via VH1 alt rock bands]. Hanson seems like they are 'making a comeback.' They cut their hair so they don't seem like 'inbred white trash' any more. Wonder if Hanson is a [...]

Hanson: "Thinking 'Bout Somethin'" (video)

Hanson And Weird Al Are “Thinking ‘Bout” The Blues Brothers In Latest Vid

Hanson And Weird Al Are “Thinking ‘Bout” The Blues Brothers In Latest Vid Hanson premiered the music video for their bright-and-bluesy new single "Thinking 'Bout Somethin'" on MySpace Music today, and it's basically a shot-by-shot remake of the song-and-dance number "Shake A Tail Feather" from the 1980 comedy-musical The Blues Brothers . Sort of an odd homage for the trio to make, considering oldest Hanson bro Isaac was born the year the movie was released in theatres, but we're not complaining. Check out the dancetastic vid below—and watch out for the groovy (albeit random) Weird Al Yankovic cameo! Hanson - "Thinking [...]

Hanson Release New Single “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” And Impress Us With Weird Al Connection

Hanson Release New Single “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” And Impress Us With Weird Al Connection It's been 13 years since "MmmBop" took over the airwaves and the collective hearts of America's teens, and yet when most people hear of Hanson nowadays, that's all they can think of (if they even know who the flaxen-haired brother trio is). Well, we think we need to retire the "MmmBop" references, because these boys have grown over the years—not only are Taylor, Isaac and Zac all married with kids, they're about to release their eighth studio album Shout It Out , due June 8. PopEater premiered the band's new single "Thinking 'Bout Somethin'," which [...]

Tracklist: Tuesday has a bad reputation

Are you like me, just combing the pesky internets all day, everyday searching for a shred, a morsel, of yummy Hanson news? JACKPOT!

Stream: Hanson - Thinking 'Bout Somethin'

Some of you may be gasping with the shock that I'm after posting a stream of the new single from those guys who sang 'Mmmbop', but don't despair, modern day Hanson are actually alright. Anyone who's heard 'Penny & Me' from their last record will agree with me, right? Plus, Taylor's supergroup Tinted Windows were pretty good too. 'Thinking 'Bout Somethin'' is the lead single from upcoming album Shout It Out , due this summer. In addition, the press release claims: "At the end of April, Hanson are set to perform a sold out, five-night run of [...]

Marit Larsen Brings Her 'Song' to the US

Marit Larsen Brings Her 'Song' to the US Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , New Music , Exclusive Though she's not yet a household name in the States, Marit Larsen has already had a successful four-year run as a solo artist in Europe. The 26-year-old indie-pop singer is, in fact, a bit of a pop star in her homeland of Norway, as well as Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Larsen, now testing American waters, stopped by Spinner's New York headquarters to play a few tunes and give the staff a taste of what's to come. [...]

SXSW 2010: Stereo Skyline

SXSW 2010: Stereo Skyline Filed under: Concerts and Tours Although having formed in 2006, Long Island, N.Y pop band Stereo Skyline has no original members to speak of. The trio of singer/guitarist Kevin Bard, drummer Rob Michaelsen and bassist Brian Maddox is on the cusp of touring the U.S. with We The Kings , the Maine and Cartel as part of the Bamboozle Roadshow. But that will be preceded by the Class of 2010 tour with [...]

All Time Low, Boys Like Girl, and more tour on The Bamboozle Roadshow

Each year, The Bamboozle Roadshow collects a bunch of acts together for a massive summer tour. The bands are often some of the hottest in the rock world, and this year is no exception. All Time Low , Boys Like Girls , LMFAO , Good Charlotte , Forever the Sickest Kids , Hellogoodbye , and Cartel are all on the list of rotating lineup of main stage artists, along with Third Eye Blind and Hanson (don't even ask me how those two are supposed to fit [...]

The Morning Mix: ‘Glee’ Makes A Pit Stop At The White House Before Returning To TV

The Morning Mix: ‘Glee’ Makes A Pit Stop At The White House Before Returning To TV Good morning! We're happy to start Tuesday's mix, but we're nowhere as excited as the Glee kids probably are today: the show's cast  is all atwitter after finding out the First Lady requested they sing at the White House this Easter. How much you wanna bet President Obama has both volumes of the Glee soundtrack on his iPod along with Jay-Z ? Did You Hear?   :: It's official: a pickle is infinitely more popular than Nickelback. Thanks, [...]

Of Montreal, Ludacris, Peter Gabriel, and more donate unreleased material for Haiti relief efforts

If you're a frequent reader of this site and/or heavily invested in the summer festival scene, then obviously the major story of the last few weeks was that of Coachella's 2010 lineup announcement. The unfortunate reality of this is that some of the more important news, such as the concerts and compilations being put together in benefit of the relief efforts in Haiti, haven't gotten their fair due. So, we'd like to once again turn the spotlight on that more important news. First and foremost, there are a series of Haiti benefit concerts that have been [...]
