Among the 62 albums I acquired in 2011 , many were old albums I'm only now catching up on. Some stuck with me better than others. Here are my (unranked) favorite new-to-me albums of the year. 20092s Catacombs put Cass McCombs on the musical map, for me at least. His deftly executed indie-interpretation of folk, white soul, and blues were addictive. Simultaneously whimsical, wistful, and weary, his songs offer hope and malaise all at once. His newest release, Wit's End , due out on the 26th, promises to further explore and expand on these previous thematics.
