Its My 27th Birthday today...Woot Woot (as my sis would say)....I don`t have much for ya cause I got lots to do today...but here`s a list of some other famous people who are celebrating a Bday today (who also happen to be good looking?!) Remember that old band The Turtles? Here's why you don't hear about them so much anymore.... Matt's Pick There's a lot of great music that I ignored growing up, and I'm only now starting to see the error of my ways. A good example is the time my band played with The Sadies and Elevator to Hell in 1998. The Sadies were around when we were sound checking, so I though with us having a pretty impressive following in our high school I'd throw the new [...]

Hayden - " Hollywood Ending " [mp3] Canadian Hayden Desser is so laid back, you might miss just how damn good he is. Like an athlete who's so smooth that he appears to be coasting on the field, Hayden can have the same effect with his throat of Northern smoke and low key song characters. But this song bursts into flame in several places; the wacked out LA storyline, the la la la la la's, and the surprisingly perfect trumpet. HAYDEN : official site * record [...]
"I don't need to take this shit from you..." Hayden - In September "I need your love all the way through..." Hip Whips - I Need Your Love "And I'd like to say you were the first one..." Unrest - Make Out Club "A sullen spent seven years, scraping love from the [...]

... when my friend Ingrid reminded me of one of my all time favorite songs. As Bad As They Seem by Hayden . Was that really 12 years ago? If you go looking, you'll see Hayden has put out more than a handful of records since his initial offering. I wouldn't be the best person to guide you through that journey, but I remember a couple stops along the way. I think of great stories put to deep acoustic strumming. [...]
Tomorrow I'll be packing all my things and closing the door to 3837 Lampl Ave for the last time and it makes me sad. Right now, I'm sitting amidst a room full of things piled about on every surface, the huge deconstruction before re-assembly into small boxes that represent my earthly possessions. I'm going to miss this place. We had some pretty amazing memories here. Listen: Hayden - All In One Move Ben Kweller - I Gotta Move The Rocket Summer - Move to the Other Side of [...]

Album: Easy Not Easy Released 2006 on Hush Records Graves on Myspace Buy Easy Not Easy Here is some music perfectly crafted to help ease back into something. Anything. For me, at this particular moment, I feel like I'm finally surfacing after a long stay submerged below the continental shelf. [...]

Hayden was the first musician to reap the benefits of the blogosphere as it relates to myself. I started surfing, I saw a song by a guy I'd never heard of as he covered a band I'd never heard of and I loved it. So I bought the record. And it's really great. Tinged with acoustic, soothing falsettos, and the kind of lazy emotive vocals (a la Beck) that make for a unique calming experience. Listen: Dynamite Walls Bass Song [from Skyscraper [...]

The most detailed report identifying global warming affects in the Northeast was released yesterday by the Union of Concerned Scientists . The Northeast Climate Impacts Assessment is the result of two years using multiple state-of-the-art climate models and weather records to project likely climate changes from New Jersey and Pennsylvania up to Maine through 2099. Some of the most impactful statements in the report illustrate how the environments of individual states are predicted to be impacted by current development trends; ie: New Hampshire's climate will be more like that of South Carolina by the end [...]

I was exposed to Hayden early on in my indie development, perhaps even before I discovered Radiohead. (I made up for that particular oversight by listening to basically nothing but Thom and Co. during senior year of high school, to the point where after I saw them live in September 2003 I was too burnt out for even OK Computer . But I digress.) After buying Skyscraper National Park on a message board recommendation and the annihilating strength of "Dynamite Walls," it quickly became one of my all-time favorite records - for a while, it [...]
