Hoewel: slechts...

Another, oh five months or so, and everyone'll be making their lists of the best of the year. As 17 Seconds progresses, I have heard about seventy new albums this year alreadt, as well as masses of tracks, and face the task of trying to put it all in order for the end of the year. It does feel like it's been a good decade for music so far, in fact; BTW did the nineties ever go through a phase of being out or was it accepted that it had been pretty good overall? There have been one [...]
You may have noticed if you read any uk blogs, or music sites that they're swooning like 50's housewives about the Wave Pictures. It seems I can't open up a web browser without stumbling onto some article or other about this band. It's probably only a matter of time until we Americans start up with [...]
I'm not completely sold on all the young newgrassy bands (how `bout you?). Crooked Still, The Duhks and others just leave me a little cold. The music is pristine and shiny, but at times lacks the passion of less acclaimed and even less purely talented groups. One of the most acclaimed young groups that stradle this line between polished bluegrass and down to earth country is Nashville's Infamous Stringdusters . They'll be releasing their new record on Sugar Hill In June. The guys in the `Dusters can certainly play, and that, [...]
Indietracks faves Darren Hayman and The Wave Pictures are both releasing long-awaited albums this week, and over at Indietracks Towers we can't wait to get our greasy mitts on them! The musicians are long-standing friends who often collaborate and play gigs together, so it seems only natural that they're releasing records in the same week. Darren's album is from his new bluegrass band, Hayman, Watkins, Trout and Lee , which features - who else - Dave Tattersall from The Wave Pictures. The self-titled record, released on Fortuna Pop tomorrow (May 6th), includes covers of songs by [...]

'Sly and the Family Stone' is the first single from Hayman, Watkins, Trout & Lee . It's available as a free download. The band feature Darren Hayman (Hefner) and Dave Tattersall (Wave Pictures). They hail from the east of London and are, oddly, an indiepop take on bluegrass. The band formed as a place for Darren Hayman to let off steam away from his solo/hefner stuff. But since the arrival of Dave Tattersall the band have shifted gear and gone and recorded a debut LP. The eponymous titled [...]

Hayman, Watkins, Trout and Lee are a Bluegrass band consisting of Darren Hayman (Hefner, The French) on bass/vocals, Dan Mayfield (Enderby, Ellis Island Sound, The Secondary Modern) on violin, Dave Tattersall (The Wave Pictures) on guitar/vocals and Dave Watkins (Pete and the Egg, The Secondary Modern) on banjo. What is bluegrass I hear you cry. According to Wikipedia it is a form of American roots music which has its own roots in Irish, Scottish and English traditional music. The band have their début album release scheduled for May 2008 on Fortuna Pop. Here [...]
